DIGITAL MEDIA

IntroductionThe Platform4 Audio and Digital Media Studio is part of the Kildare County Council’s music development programme. Managed by Kildare County Council Arts Service, the purpose of the studio is to offer high quality training and mentoring initiatives in audio and digital media.

While the primary purpose of the studio is to run and develop training initiatives for artists of all ages, both spaces can be rented commercially. For commercial rates contact Kildare County Council Arts Service.

The Platform4 Audio and Digital Media Studio is a versatile space for artists to learn and create work. Kildare County Council welcomes submissions from artists / musicians / fi lmmakers on innovative and creative ways to use the studio.

AUDIO STUDIOAudio StudioThe Audio Studio runs out of one live room. This area is large enough to hold a large drum kit, but not to record a band as a unit. All recordings are made solo, resulting in the cleanest direct sounds to mix with.

The Audio Studio is not limited to the recording of Bands / Musicians. Since 2007 a broad range of programmes have been developed that have enhanced the usage of the studio and better engaged with artists needs.

The House EngineerThe Platform4 Audio Studio employs

a House Engineer (qualifi ed in Pro Tools) for all programmes /

recordings in the studio. This ensures that all recordings made in the studio

are consistent and of the highest quality. The current House Engineer is Paul Dowling.

Commercial RentalThe facilities in the Platform4 Audio Studio are offered at subsidised rates, which include use of the recording facilities and the services of the House Engineer.

The studio can be rented for full days, half days (ideal for singer songwriters) and for short-term rental (audio / commercial recording).

Digital Media Studio

Introduction

The Digital Media Studio is a new addition to the Platform4 Studio. Using the industry standard ‘Final Cut Pro’ editing software this space aims to offer high quality Apple Accredited Training and fi lm editing facilities to artists in Kildare and beyond.

The Digital Media Studio is developing creative editing courses for fi lmmakers. Similar to the Audio Studio, programmes will be developed based on the needs and suggestions of artists / fi lmmakers.

Commercial RentalFinal Cut Pro 7 offers professional editing, compositing, effects and audio capabilities. Broadcast / multimedia outputting to various platforms is supported.
