Introduction

» How do enterprises work?» They collaborate with others in their business

processes Some functionalities/activities are externalized through services;

» Sensitive information may be provided and the received results may ruin the business.

» What do enterprises need?» To be sure that the services used will not put the

business in risk They need to know if they can trust the service (and its provider).

Problems and Solution

» Problems & Requirements:» Use more aspects than ratings and QoS;» Avoid attacks to the model;» Enable new FI scenarios Federated platforms;» Provide fair and accurate scores.

» Trust Model:» Wide model which aggregates information from many

sources;» Usage of rules for avoiding attacks to the model,

based on cause-effect analysis;» Share and evaluate information between federated

platforms;» Provide a customizable model.

Main Details

» Trust seen as “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something”[Compact Oxford

English Dictionary];» Several calculations supported (especial weighted

average, exponential smoothing, fuzzy sets, statistical tests, services comparison and a mix of some of them);

» Mechanism for sharing information with other platforms and evaluating them;

» Trust ontology for trust calculation and information sharing;

» Consistency management by using rules (with fuzzy sets), according to concepts relationships.

Trust Calculation in 3 Rounds

1st Round - Calculate Individual Aspects

3rd Round - Calculate Aggregation of Aspects

2nd Round – Ammend Calculation with Fuzzy Rules

Conclusions

» When calculating trust, reputation is only a part of the model

» Robustness of the model is a key issue Keep information consistency

» In Federations, provide mechanisms for sharing information and evaluating it properly

» Semantics are a good tool for calculating trust and share information in Federations
