TALKING - CHANGE & HABITS ! 10/31 /2022 MANOJKESHWAR.COM 1 FACTS, STORIES & ANECDOTE

description

This was a talk to over 40 employees on an Interior Design firm transiting from a Start up to a SME. They have begun to realize that certain systems and behaviors need to come in as an organisational culture to take the organisation to the next level. This is also the time that as the organisational wheel gets bigger the leadership is unable to express their personality in the way they could before. This was a great opportunity and i learnt a lot.

“We used to have this famous mantra … and the idea here is that as developers, moving quickly is so important that we were even willing to tolerate a few bugs in order to do it. What we realized over time is that it wasn’t helping us to move faster because we had to slow down to fix these bugs and it wasn’t improving our speed. It might not have the same ring to it and might not be as catchy… but it helps us build better experiences for everyone we serve and how we operate now.”

– Mark Zuckerberg

You got a job - The instructions, mails and

papers come in. Who taught you to handle these?New work place and work load and soon we have stress – how to handle this work efficiently ?Education is focused on concepts and not on Practical work – they usually are not taught .

You have to self-learn these habits.

Companies expect you to know all that and thus do not really have defined HABITs

culture.12

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE ?Robert Schwabe paid 25,000 $, in 1939, to consultant firm on

“ How to use this precious, irretrievable resource”

Findings were – You cannot control time unless you account for where it goes … Greatest time wasted is the one for Not getting started … Everybody’s business is No Body’s business What can be done at Anytime, will be done at No time Start your day with a “ TO DO LIST ” and prioritise the vital few, after

picking them from trivial many.

WHO CASE STUDY – IV INFECTIONS

Doctors should wash their hands before inserting an IV, a patient's skin should be cleaned with antiseptic at the point of insertion, and so forth.

When Michigan ICUs put the checklist into practice over a period of 18 months, line infections were virtually eliminated, saving the hospitals an estimated $175 million, because they no longer had to treat the associated complications. Oh, and it saved about 1,500 lives.

How can something so simple be so powerful? Checklists are good because they can educate people about the best course of action, showing them the ironclad right way to do something.

Checklists simply make big screwups less likely.

What does your business have to do every time? Put it in a checklist.
