Thank you to all the students, parents and staff for all your hard work in the
first term! We have lots coming up in term two, including a number of staff
changes. We have two new Comox Valley PIE teachers to welcome - Alix and
Charlotte, and a new teacher in Powell River to welcome - Allison. In addition,
one of our Powell River teachers, Hayley, has gone
on maternity leave, and we are saying bon voyage to
long-time Powell River teacher, Bev Shannon, as
she is retiring this month. We wish you all the best
in your future adventures, Bev! The teachers are
now back in their offices and look forward to recon-
necting with their families soon. As always, please
don’t hesitate to contact us. We truly are happy to
help in any way we can. Here’s to 2017 and all the

PIE Showcase
These lovely ladies
(PIE students, Stella
and Sophie Swanson,
and PIE teacher, Karen
Pantuso) have recently
released their second
CD! Outstanding dedi-
cation to their passion
has led to nine
captivating new songs.
Congratulations are due to Zara; she has had a fabulous year! "2016 was a really exciting year for me! I discovered my pas-sion for Olympic Weightlifting and started competing in Sep-tember. I qualified for the Canadian Junior Nationals in Quebec and for a number of reasons decided not to go this year. I am focused and training for 2017 BC Provincials and 2018 Junior Canadians.” In addition to her weightlifting success, Zara is currently one of three teens nominated for a Comox Valley Chamber of Com-merce award. “I am very honoured to be a finalist for the Youth Leadership Award through the Chamber of Commerce. Being a good role model and leader is very important to me!"
