DPSC Limited SYSTEM consists mainly of 2generating stations one each at Chinakuriand Dishergarh and two 11KV networks onecovering Dishergarh and Chinakuri areasand the other covering Seebpore, Luchipurand Satgram areas. The present generating

capacity of Chinakuri Power Station (CPS) is30MW . Generating Capacity of DishergarhPower Station is about 12MW .TheGenerating Stations are basically providing

survival power requirement to ourconsumers. These generating stationssupply 42MW power out of our totalrequirement of 122 MW. The balance poweris mainly drawn from DVC's system at fourintake points viz., Dishergarh, Satgram,Seebpore and Luchipur. The Power fromDVC system is taken at 33 KV and it is then

stepped down to 11 KV for distribution forour consumers. The Company's generationmeets about 32% of its system demand,while the balance 68% is sourced from DVCand WBSEB.The system details are asfollows :

Power Distribution: Network System

The present peak load of the company is122 MW and Power is supplied

predominantly at 11kv.Around 32% of theload is met from own generation , while thebalance is met through imports of powerfrom DVC and WBSEB.Imports of power takeplace from DVC at four points spread overits licensed area and from WBSEB at onepoint.The Company supplies power toWBSEB consumer at 18 different points in its

licensed area spread over Asansol/RaniganjCoal & Industrial belts.

Power Distribution:Transmission is anintermediary between Generation & Supplyof Power. DPSC Limited is transmits of powerat 33 kV from DTPS to Company's area ofsupply in Asansol - Raniganj for delivery toSupply Division after stepping down to 11 kVthrough a 550 kV network linking

System Loss

DPSC Limited is maintaining a testing

laboratory with sizeable work force toimprove metering system and to arrestcommercial losses as well.

Major activities undertaken for the lasttwo / three years:

Introduction of microprocessor based State-

of the -Art static meter in consumerpremises.

Introduction of new tamper proof meteringbox / cubicle to reduce attempt of theft.

Improvement of meter sealing system.

Phasing out existing meters by good qualitymeters.

Increasing vigilance for supervision andchecking of meter readings.

System study of the consumers' pointincluding load pattern and period ofoperation.

Computerized billing and follow up action.

Augmentation of overloaded overhead /underground lines.

Improvement of system power factor by wayof installing reactive power compensation

The total load of the system is 122 MW.Due to restriction on constructing 33KV Transmission network due to DVC

Act, the distribution had to be done at11KV.In spite of the above limitation,the T&D loss is in the range of 6%which is one of the lowest in thecountry.

Consumer Profile

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) is thesingle largest consumer of theCompany constituting 60% of the Loadof the Company. About 25% of the Load

is that of WBSEB who buy power fromDPS at 11 KV. Balance 15% of the loadabsorbed by other industries and byessential services like Hospitals,

Nursing Homes, Pumping Stations,Railways, TV & Radio Stations Etc.
