1. The partnership area is known as Vallis Colapis (Latin for Valley of Kupa), located in a favourable geographic part of central Croatia in the North West of the administrative area of Karlovac County.

2. The partnership area is located on the border with Republic of Slovenia along the Kupa River. It also borders Zagreb County.

3. With a population of 15041 and a total area of 370 km2, it includes Ozalj town administration area, and municipalities of Kamanje, Žakanje, Ribnik and Netretić.

4. 51% of the area is classified as an area of special state concern (municipalities of Ribnik and Netretić). Municipalities of Ribnik and Netretić were classified as an area of special concern because population decline between the census of 1991 and 2001.
