1. Research
•Continued emphasis on marine and global/development research; strengthen humanities and law
•Diversity, innovation and basic research, technology transfer and innovation clusters
•Increased focus on research infrastructure and research databases, digitisation of research data
•Prioritise continuous periods of time for research
•Strengthen young researchers’ career options, all researchers at UiB should also teach
•Improve the gender balance among researchers and in leadership positions.

2. Researcher training (PhDs)
•We see our PhD fellows primarily as researchers. We do not want to reorganise our doctoral traning to be administered by student affairs.
•PhD fellows are professional contributors to new knowledge and are more than students.
•Group B should be better integrated into university democracy.
•Teaching experience is imporant and four year stipends allow this.
•Networks, researcher schools and a maximum of six months from submitting to defending a dissertation.

4. Outreach and communication

• Strengthen alumni relations and contact with business and cultural sector
• MA theses and good BA theses should be publically available, and popularisation of research should be part of courses including student-active research

5. Internationalisation
•Closer links between international research collaborations
and student exchange programs
• Reduced teaching for new international employees so they
have time to learn Norwegian
