It is always a great pleasure to be involved with The Polish Knights of Malta UK and
The Polish Order of Malta Volunteers on projects devoted to fundraising for the Polish
Association's charitable projects.
This time the POMV focus is on the latest Grobniki Project in Poland which follows on
from the unexpected discovery of Prince Josef Poniatowski’s "Mass in F". This led to the
hosting of the British Premiere in Westminster Cathedral Hall, providing a forum to
present the music of this great man to a new generation of music lovers, which enabled
the Order to fundraise for Barczewo.
The June British Premiere at the Westminster Cathedral Hall was not only unforgettable
Premiere of Poniatowski's "Mass in F", but also a successful occasion dedicated to help
the Polish Association of Knights of Malta's Incurables Hospital in Poland.
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland is proud to support these endeavours particularly
as this latest event “A Polish Cavalcade - a celebration of Polish presence in Europe” is
a fundraising evening in aid of the centre for disabled children and their parents in
Grobniki, Silesia.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Polish Knights of Malta UK and The
Polish Order of Malta Volunteers for giving freely of their time, skills and talents.
I wish you all the most enjoyable cultural evening.
Mr. Witold Sobków
The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Court of St James’s
in London

Dear Friends,
I am delighted to be associated with the work of the Polish Order of Malta Volunteers
(POMV) and very honoured to serve as the Chairman of the Association of the Polish
Knights of Malta UK.
The POMV work highlights the enormous contribution which its members are
continuing to deliver in the aid of the Polish Knights of Malta projects, previously in
Kraków, Poznań, Barczewo and now in Grobniki in Poland.
In previous years, the POMV team supported the fund-raising efforts for the Disabled
Children’s Hospital in Kraków, the Oncology Hospital in Poznań and the Order's
hospital in Barczewo.
Tonight's fund-raising gala, as most of our past projects, is the continuation of the
initiatives of the late Dr Andrew Meeson-Kielanowski, former Chairman of the
Association of Polish Knights of Malta UK.
APKM UK worked closely with the POMV team on these critical projects and I saw at
first hand the energy and dedication of those involved.
I encourage you to explore our website www.apkmuk.co.uk and learn about the many
other projects the POMV has supported.
Do please contact us if you would like to be involved in any way.
Dr Mark Stella-Sawicki M.B.E. K.M.
Chairman, Association of the Polish Knights of Malta UK

Dear Guests and Supporters
I would like to welcome you here tonight and thank you for joining us this evening to
help support our wonderful cause. Tonight’s event is held in aid of the Polish Knights of
Malta's Project in Grobniki, Poland.
The Polish Order of Malta Volunteers, London (POMV) was set up in 2008, with my
father, Andrew Meeson-Kielanowski, in order to support the Polish Order of Malta in its
work, particularly in its fundraising efforts. Fundraising is crucial for the survival of the
projects the Order operates.
I was approached by the Treasurer of the Knights of Malta in Poland, Tomasz
Zdziebkowski, who told me about the value and urgency for the need to develop the
centre at Grobniki. The centre cares for disabled children and there is a great demand
for such a facility in the area. I hope tonight will raise enough funds to significantly help
subsidise the Order’s work there and to make a difference.
I would like to thank the Ambassador for his generosity in making tonight possible by
inviting us to the Embassy and for his patronage.
When we came to deciding on the sort of entertainment we wanted to share with you, we
wanted to do something a little different and celebrate Polish culture.
I would very much like to thank Andrew Visnevski and Jeff Lewis for their time and effort
in devising tonight’s entertainment. Without them tonight would not have been possible.
Our Cavalcade Soiree tonight and our annual Christmas Carol Concert in St Clement
Danes, London, to be held on Friday 4th December, are significant events towards this
worthwhile cause.
On behalf of the Volunteers thank you for being here tonight and for your generous
support. I wish you a wonderful evening.
Joanna Meeson Chairman, Polish Order of Malta Volunteers UK

The Polish Cavalcade – An Entertainment
Poland made its unquestionable entrance into the new Europe in 966 AD by embracing Christianity and all the new alliances and challenges that came with it. And, despite its ostensible disappearance from the map of Europe between 1795 and 1918, thanks to unique individuals Poland, Polish thought and creativity and spirit never stopped being heard in Europe.
For upward of a millennium, whether on the plane of international politics or economics, of fine arts, literature, the theatre, film-making, linguistics, music or science, an innumerable number of Poles have made their mark in Europe and beyond. Poles have changed the outlook, ways of thinking and perceiving, they have fought for other people’s freedom and contributed to the unchaining of minds. We should dearly love to celebrate them all and their individual achievements tonight but, clearly, that is not possible. Let us welcome a select few to make their influential presence through the bodies and voices of our actors in a light-hearted cavalcade of colourful appearances and encounters. The author felt that a sombre tribute would make the occasion too weighty and therefore chose a slightly more tongue-in-cheek way of celebrating. After all, isn’t satire the healthiest form of tribute?

Malta Hospital in Barczewo, Poland
- The Hospital in Barczewo, run by the Polish Association of the Order of Malta, is dedicated to the long-term
treatment of patients requiring constant and specialised care.
Patients come from all over Poland to the hospital as it specialises in the treatment of those recovering from
strokes and car accidents.
The hospital was refurbished to the highest standard in 2012 and has specific rehabilitation rooms and also
offers hydro-massages. It is also one of only four hospitals in Poland, which has the use of a ‘cyber-eye’,
which enables communication with patients unable to communicate in any other way.
Supported by the Polish Order of Malta
Volunteers, the Polish Knights are now
raising money to buy critical medical
equipment and help with further
improvements in the hospital infrastructure.
Please help us make this hospital a success,
so that more of its kind can be established
in the future. Your support and generosity
is much appreciated.

Daquise Restaurant Situated in the very heart of London's South Kensington, the legendary Daquise has been serving delicious, traditional Polish Cuisine for over sixty five years. Since 1947 we have welcomed many esteemed guests and played a small part in history of both London and Poland. In the sixties, during the height of the Profumo affair, we played host to Christine Keeler and Yevgeni Ivanov, the naval attaché of the Soviet Embassy and KGB spy. Roman Polański regularly stopped by for dumplings and goulash whilst filming Repulsion. There is nothing that would please us more than to welcome you to our restaurant and together upheld the legend of Daquise.
