1. Assignment 16: There are many games available online for students toplay in class. For this assignment, find at least 5 games online that your students could play to review, learn, or practice skills. The games must allow for discussion and group participation. (If your classroom doesnt have access to a computer, create a game that students can actively play in class. Your game could incorporate the use of white boards, props, etc. Just be sure your game gets students talking and participating with one another.) And they are typically so entertaining that it feels like they've been playing a game. It would be easy to add a competitiveness to it that could create competition; you can limit the time they have to shoot, create publish, for example. 3. Pictionary with a whiteboard app Using the ipad, reflector (an app to put the ipad screen wirelessly onto a tv or projector or smartbaord, and a whiteboard app, I'd play a review game with vocab for an upcoming test - this is highly entertaining and the kids are very excited to participate! You also find out who the artists are! 4. iStopMotion This is an app that also produces video, albeit not in a standard way - the students use their drawings or each other or another medium to deliver stop motion graphics - the app makes it easy to understand how to shoot the video using a "ghost" of your last shot, so you know just how much to move the media to ge the next shot - truly inspiring! 5. Songify! This one is a quick little iOS app that lets the students get creative and musical - even if they have no talent (like their musically talentless teacher!); I would also use this as a competitive / voting scenario with a twist: I wouldnt let them who created the song that they were about to hear until after it was over (the produced track is hard to tell who is singing); I would have them create a song that is relevant to one of our health/wellness topics! 6. Surgeon Simulator on iPad Yes! You read that right! A surgical simulation for the iPad - perhaps not for the feint of heart, still engaging and intriguing - especially on the big screen! Like "Operation" for 2014!!!
