About the Speakers: John Hundley, Life Science Practice Lead, CBRE | Brokerage Services John Hundley specializes in strategic advisory and portfolio planning for early stage and major life science companies on a local, national and global basis. John serves as a member of CBRE’s Global Life Science Practice. He is recognized as San Diego’s life science industry market leader and the primary point of contact for tenant advocate and advisory service within the sector. John is responsible for local practice strategic planning, new business development, and to lead strategic pursuits and to ensure excellent client outcomes. Known for his leadership, creativity and collaborative style, John excels at providing future-focused solutions that are proactive to the life science industry, and predicated on a thorough knowledge of his client’s needs and business objectives. As a result, John has led many different assignments including redevelopment projects, large lease negotiations, property acquisitions for mission-critical facilities and portfolio optimization assignments.

Eric Jones, Managing Director and Architect, LPA Inc. Eric Jones is an associate/managing director and architect with LPA, one of the largest integrated design firms in California. Eric is heading up the Life Science studio in San Diego and works closely with Alexandria Real Estate Equities and life science tenants on several new construction and renovation projects. He has been an architect for LPA for 9 years and successfully completed over 1.8 Million square feet of design and construction projects. LPA provides architectural, planning, landscape architecture, interior design, engineering, and graphic/signage services from early program development to project closeout.

Craig Knox, Senior Vice President, Hughes Marino Craig will share with us why the Life Science market in San Diego is hot! Huge injections of capital from private investors, along with a wide-open window for life science IPOs, have left biotech, medical device and diagnostics companies flush with cash. These companies are snapping up wet lab / research space at an unprecedented rate, and developers are responding in force with over a million square feet of new space set to come online in the next 1-2 years….and Craig will give us a look at the key players and projects that are competing for a piece of the action. Craig Knox is a senior vice president with Hughes Marino, an award-winning California commercial real estate company specializing in tenant representation and building purchases. Tracy Murphy is a life science real estate expert who serves as regional head for BioMed Realty Trust, the leading provider of real estate solutions to the life science community. She has worked in the life science real estate market for 14 years with the last four years leading the leasing and development team for BioMed Realty in San Diego, a $1 billion dollar portfolio and the company’s third largest market with nearly

3 million square feet. During her eight years with BioMed in San Diego, Murphy has successfully signed hundreds of leases with over 115 different life science companies across the west coast including biotech leaders The J. Craig Venter Institute, Novo Nordisk, ThermoFisher, Illumina, Human Longevity, Regulus, Receptos, Halozyme, Vertex and UCSD. She has successfully driven occupancy in BioMed’s diverse holdings in Torrey Pines, UTC, Sorrento Valley and Sorrento Mesa to 97 percent. She is leading the process to bring the iconic, 316,000 square foot, LEED Platinum, i3 project in UTC to market to meet the growing demands of San Diego’s vibrant life science community. Murphy also serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for BIOCOM. Murphy graduated from University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with a Bachelor of Arts in Business with a minor in Marketing.
