A Note from Pastor Troy “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable (Psalm 145:3, ESV).” We serve an amazing God. Think about this… Even if God were to have a bad day, it would be exceedingly better than our best day. God is great! He does great things, and He does those things for His glory. Because God does great things always, He is worthy of praise in all things. What is most amazing about this verse, for me, is that David points out that God’s greatness is unsearchable. Unsearchable? I think the point here is that, as humans, we can never reach the end of God’s greatness. God’s greatness is unsearchable. His greatness is unfathomable. Sunday, I showed you a portion of Louie Giglio’s talk, “How Great is Our God”. I want to encourage you to watch it in its entirety. It is available online through YouTube. Search “Louie Giglio How Great is Our God Full Video.” It is well worth 40 minutes of your time if you want to be amazed at the greatness of God. On Sunday, I mentioned that we printed some “Leave Behind” cards for you to use as invitations to our church. If you did not get a stack of these cards on Sunday, or if you already handed out all of yours, you can find them just outside the church office or in the main foyer of the Worship Center. So, how can you use one of these cards? Well, there is a space where you can write a little note to someone. You can hand it to your checker at Wal-Mart or leave one with your server at a restaurant (if you do this, make sure you leave a good tip, too). You can scribe a quick note to a neighbor and either hand it to them or leave it on their door (make sure to include your name and address). You can give one to the person who cuts your hair (again, remember the tip). The uses of these cards are limitless. The main thing is that you use them. So, let me challenge you… The next time you are by the church or this Sunday, take seven of them. Why seven? It is so that you can invite one person to our church each day the next week. Can you imagine if we all invited seven people to our church by next Sunday? Another use is as a prayer card. You can simply write, “I prayed for you” and give it to someone. If you love your church, then you want to make sure that people do not miss out on what God is doing at your church. As we continue our Encountering God series in the coming week, my prayer is that God will transform your life and the life of our church toward prayer. I ask that you join me in praying for this series. I am asking God for great things. If we, as a church, want to accomplish anything, we must begin with prayer. The church is most effective when it is praying effectively (James 5:16). As you pray, I hope that you will commit to attending the next six Sundays as we journey through prayer together. Not only will we learn about prayer, and how to pray, but we will also pray together as a church family. We will pray for one another. We will pray for our church. We will pray for our community. From every great movement of prayer, God has done great things in the lives of those who pray. REV. O.C. COOPER FATHER’S DAY OFFERING

Coming Sunday, June 19

Rev. O.C. Cooper, Sr. was serving as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hempstead, Texas when he retired. He and his wife Clara moved to College Station to be near family, and he opened a clock repair shop in his home. He had repaired clocks since he was young and this hobby helped bring in extra

income after he retired.

When he died, his son (Dr. O.C. Cooper, Jr.) went through the things in his clock repair shop and found a fruitcake tin with a slot in it, some money inside, and a label on top that stated “The Lord's Money.” Apparently, each time his father got paid for repairing a clock, or sold a clock he had restored, he put 10% of the income in the can for a tithe to be donated to the church. His son took the money

from this can and donated it to the church as his father had intended.

Dr. Cooper was deeply touched by his father's money tin and decided to use it as an example to encourage church members to be faithful in tithing. He asked the church to begin the Rev. O.C. Cooper Father's Day offering in honor of his father. It has since become an annual offering given on

Father's Day, so that all church members may honor their fathers with this special offering.

If you already participate in this annual special offering, bless you and thank you. If not, perhaps this year is the perfect time for you to get your own tin and fill it with your own special Father’s Day Offering. Tins may be brought to the altar during the regular offering on June 19. If you would like to

get your tin returned so you may re-use it for next year, please label the bottom of the tin.

Summer Bible Study will kick off in the fellowship hall on June 12 during our regular 9:45am Bible Study time. This 8-week series will cover the book of Jonah and be taught by Cynthia Hopkins. If you are currently not attending a Sunday Bible study, this would be an excellent way to get started. Several of our adult classes will be attending as a group providing for multiple opportunities to get to know other teachers and interact in discussion with the

various groups. I hope you will make plans to attend.

Just a reminder about FBC-U: We will be taking the next two weeks off (May 29, June 5) and resume on June 12 with Nick Pitts from the Denison Forum who will be here discussing

Faith and Politics. I hope you will make plans to be with us!
