  • *Background It was aimed to investigate the efficacy of tissue adhesive cyanoacrylate in the protection of tracheal allografts in this experimental study.

  • *Cyanoacrylate There are two types like conventional and synthetic of tissue adhesives. Fibrine glue is the most popular of conventionals and the cyanoacrylate is synthetics.Cyanoacrylate use like the most frequent tissue adhesive after when it was had less toxic and carcinogenic affect by long experimental studies.

  • *CyanoacrylateCyanoacrylate use easily without need preparing.Using cyanoacrylate has short time of surgery and less anesthesia. Today, using cyanoacrylate prefers than suturing when there wasnt enough for suturing technique and materials.

  • *Material and MethodTotally 42 Wistar Albino rats were divided into two groups.Tracheas of the first rats of each group were removed and then separated into pieces.

  • *Material and MethodWhile tracheal pieces were preserved with cyanoacrylate in the first group and preservation was not applied to the second group. Tracheal grafts were placed into the place prepared in the external fascia of musculus rectalis of other rats.

  • *On the 23rd day, rats were sacrified.Allografts examined by histopathological techniques. Inspection of migration of histeocytes, plasmocytes, lenfocytes, eosinophils, polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PML), formation of necrosis, fibrosis and neovascularisation between graft and perigraftic tissue were recorded.Material and Method

  • *Material and Method

There were used a score technique like this in the histopathological examination:

Grade 0- Any changing ()Grade 1- Little level changing (+)Grade 2- Middle level changing (++)Grade 3- High level changing (+++)Grade 4- Very high level changing (++++)

  • *Results of histopathological examination of non covered trachea by cyanoacrylate : Any changing, +: Little level changing, ++: Middle level changing, +++: High level changing, ++++: Very high level changing

  • *ConclusionMany of experimental and clinical studies were reported using cyanoacrylate was precautioned infection with bactericide and bacteriostatic affect.1,2There were high range of fibrosis and necrosis in non covered tracheal grafts. In covered grafts were not. Olson ME, Ruseska I, Costerton JW: Colonization of n-2-butyl cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive by staphylococcus epidermitis. Biomed Mater Res.; 22: 485-488, 1988.Toriumu DM, Raslan WF, Friedman M, Tardy ME: Histotoxicity of cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives. A comparative study. Arch Otolaryngol Head Nect Surg.; 111a: 546-547, 1990.

  • *ConclusionIn our study, we were any results for migration of eosinophils who was been with rejection in the last period of chronic rejection phase. We were examined only hyperacute, acute and beginning period of rejection phase. We think, if we were examined them more than a long time, we reported migration of eosinophils.

  • *Conclusion We recorded many histopathological finding of rejection in non covered tracheal grafts by cyanoacrylate. Covered tracheal grafts by cyanoacrylate were not any finding of rejection.

  • *ConclusionOur study suggested that cyanoacrylate was successful in preservation of tracheal allografts and prevented the rejection of the graft.
