Biggin Hill Airport is London’s best Business and General Aviation Airport. We specialise in serving small business aircraft and are the only such airport within the M25.

We do not provide scheduled or holiday charter airline services, and there are no plans for this to change.

We are currently celebrating our centenary year. At Biggin Hill we celebrate our heritage with pride, whilst embracing a bright future.

We want to continue to be a successful airport serving a niche market, which in turn provides for opportunities and jobs locally through associated services, such as aircraft servicing and maintenance.

We are seeking permission to build a small hotel to complement the services we offer on site.

As part of the evolution of the Airport, a dedicated hotel is fast becoming an expected service, particularly for pilots and crews.

Flight crews often arrive at the airport and stay for a short period of time, usually without the means of onward travel, such as a car at the airport.

A planning application was approved in 2009 for a larger hotel on the site, but a suitable operator for it was never identified. As such, we are now proposing a new, slightly smaller hotel. This will better fit our site and will be run by the airport.

The hotel will be in the south-western corner of the airport, within the existing boundary. The site is adjacent to the Bombardier/Signature building.

In the absence of an on-site hotel, pilots currently stay in various locations away from the Airport, generating extra traffic.

Most of the site is an existing car park with two trees on the southern boundary of the site adjacent to the roundabout on the junction between Churchill Way and Main Road.

The southern side of Churchill Way is heavily tree-lined, forming a visual screen between the site and the neighbouring buildings to the south.

Our new proposals for an on-site hotel will draw inspiration from the Bombardier/Signature building, which is located adjacent to this site. This building sets the architectural context for this part of the site.

The proposed building will be three storeys in height, and will complement the more dominant hangar building next door, whilst supporting the creation of a notable gateway to the Airport.

As well as creating the hotel, we will invest in significant landscaping work to improve this part of the airport. With the Bombardier/Signature building and the Hotel, we will create a new gateway to the airport.

A new road to site, linked to the existing Lookout Coffee Shop car park, will create a better junction with Churchill Way. Improved landscaping and additional planting will further help us create a better defined space.

With improved road and pedestrian access and two buildings which complement each other, we will create a strong sense of identity in this part of the airport.

We aim to provide a small boutique hotel, equivalent to three or four-star grade. There will be around 50 double bedrooms with en-suite facilities.

The hotel communal areas will be fully accessible and includes six ground floor bedrooms which are fully accessible.

The hotel facilities will also include a small restaurant, lounge and gymnasium, which will all contribute to providing more employment opportunities locally.

By providing the hotel ourselves, we can tailor this to our own style. We can ensure the high-quality service on which we pride ourselves is part of the ethos of the hotel.

We are reviewing the feedback received both at the exhibition event and after. The comments will assist us in drawing together our final proposals for the site.

We will then submit a planning application to Bromley Council.
