A Model for the Church In the basement of America's largest home, the Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina, you can
see a model of the structure. The model was completed first, as a guide to build the home. In
Barcelona, Spain, you can visit the still unfinished Sagrada Familia Church. They have been working on
it for fifty years. They will show you a model of what the building will look like when it is finished.
We all need patterns and we must follow the right pattern. The Bible gives us a model for building
Christ's church. The New Testament is the right pattern. Members of the church of Christ refuse to
accept any human creed in religion. We seek to plant New Testament churches throughout the world,
after the New Testament pattern. We refuse any uninspired man's statement, or system of statements,
as our rule in religion. Articles of Religion, Confessions of Faith, Disciplines, Church Manuals, and
Creeds formulated by men are thus rejected. The Word of God alone is our standard.
This is the only safe path because 'all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be
perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works' (2 Timothy 3:16:17). Peter says that God gave us all
things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3); therefore, when we speak, we are to 'speak as
the oracles of God' (1 Peter 4:11).
If we want to be pleasing to God, we need to follow His model.-

Man’s Greatest Journey Bill Dillon, from Gospel Gems Vol. 1
Man loves to travel. The journeys of man have taken him from pole to pole, and from ocean’s bottom to the top of the skies...and beyond! Wherever man goes (and for whatever the reason) man cannot escape what he is. Our character sticks closer than a shadow.
Spiritually, man is a traveler also. The heart of man often wanders far from God. Jesus said, “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me ” (Matthew 15:8). The most dangerous journey of man is the journey away from God into the far country of sin. The prodigal son traveled this road (Luke 16:11-32) but after the thrills of sin subsided, “he came to himself” and resolved to return to his father’s house. If we see sin for what it really is and resolve to obey the will of the Father we can come to ourselves! That is man’s greatest journey.
The Bible teaches that we must hear, believe and be baptized to be saved (Acts 18:8). It teaches we can fall from grace also (Galatians 5:4). Are you in need of taking man’s greatest journey?

5 Keys to being unreserved…KEY #1: CONTEMPLATION (4:19a)• Daniel thought before he spoke. He was careful w/ his words. • When dealing with others it is important to choose our words
wisely (Col. 4:6; Ecc, 10:12).KEY #2: CONCERN (4:19b)• Daniel wanted the information to be about someone else. • When speaking the truth it must be in love (Rom. 15:14-15).KEY #3 CONTENTMENT (5:17)• Daniel spoke the truth and wanted nothing in return. • Our motive is to get people to do what is right (Rom. 12:1-3). KEY #4: CONCRETE (5:19-23)• Daniel had his facts straight before he made accusations.• Truth is truth, but accusations must be coupled with concrete
evidence (Mk. 6:16-18; 1 Cor. 5:1-3; Mt. 18:16; 1 Tim. 5:19). KEY #5: CONDITIONS (4:27)• Daniel gave Nebuchadnezzar a game plan to God’s wrath.• Our truthful words must include a POA (Jn. 5:13; Rom. 6:16-18;
Ac. 26:20).

Then Daniel answered, and said before the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation. 18 O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father a kingdom and majesty, glory and honor. 19 And because of the majesty that He gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down. 20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him. 21 Then he was driven from the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses. 22 “But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. 23 And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.
