OLD ST. MARY’S CHURCH - 1500 S. MICHIGAN AVENUE, CHICAGO, IL 60605 - CHICAGO’S FIRST CATHOLIC PARISH ESTABLISHED IN 1833 - THE PAULIST FATHERS SERVING OUR PARISH SINCE OCTOBER 12, 1903.
W hen you're the oldest at anything you have a sense of history, and a bit of pride, "you began something." Of course with regard to the Church, we must acknowledge God begins something and we are inspired to bring the work to fruition. And when we're dealing with the Holy Spirit, who is constantly at work recreating the world, we at Old St Mary's know that
the 6 times our church building was created were each times the Church community came alive again too. This Sunday we celebrate 17 years of being in our new space, and we remain a community looking ahead. We give thanks to God for the blessings that have brought us to this celebration, and we look forward to the renewal that guides us forward as, along with the whole Archdiocese, we remain on the quest to renew Christ's Church and each of our lives! Blessings on us all! Fr. Brad

OUR PARISH MISSION Founded in 1833, Old St. Mary’s parish is the first Catholic parish in the Chicago area. Guided for more than a century by the vision of the Paulist Fathers, we are a diverse and welcoming community dedicated to serving the spiritual needs of the Loop, South Loop and the greater Chicago area. As a unified Church and School community, Old St. Mary’s Parish promotes the mission of the Paulist Fathers to welcome those who have been away from the church, to build bridges of respect and col-laboration with people of diverse backgrounds and religions, and to promote justice and healing in our society.
Cleofe Garcia Sacristan
A MINDSET OF SERVICE
There’s a lot of traveling, deliver-ing, and visiting going on in our readings today. In Genesis Abraham cares for the needs of three mysterious travelers. The psalm responds, celebrating the kind of righteousness that Abraham practices. Then, in his letter to the Colossians, Saint Paul describes his own ministry as almost like a delivery service: he, God’s steward, brings the word of God to their community. Finally, Luke’s Gospel shares the well-known story of Mary and Mar-tha, and the different ways they welcome Jesus into their home. Amid all this com-ing and going, we are invited to pay at-tention to the ways we tend to the needs of others. Each of us can ask, How am I present to God and others in my life?

Pastor’s White Board
Dear Parishioners, This week we introduce our new Associate Pastor, Fr. Stuart Wilson-Smith, CSP.
Fr. Brad
Dear Parishioners of Old St. Mary’s, My name is Fr. Stuart Wilson-Smith. Most people call me “Father Stu.” I am excited to serve here as your Associate Pastor, alongside my Paulist brothers. I have heard so many wonderful things about Old St. Mary’s: the vibrant liturgies, growing school, and faithful, joy-filled people. Thank you for welcoming me into your midst! A little about myself: I entered the Paulist Fathers in 2011 after work-ing in a variety of fields, including restaurants, security, and musical instrument sales. I enjoy songwriting and just released another album this year (“It’s Not Just You It’s Everybody”). I also love to travel. I lived in Ireland in my late teens—where I was a bad waiter and an OK dishwasher—and later backpacked through South and East Africa. I love a good adventure, so the Paulists are the right fit for me. I am Canadian. I was born in Nova Scotia and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick. I studied history and philosophy at the University of Toronto, and later attended the Catholic University of America for my graduate/seminary studies. Our outgoing Associate, Fr. Steven Petroff, is a dear friend and classmate. Hopefully some of his wisdom has rubbed off on me. My previous assignment was in campus ministry at The Ohio State University. While the ministry hours may be a little bit different (I promise to adjust as quickly as possible to the early morning Masses), God’s holy people are everywhere, and the time is always right to engage the Paulist mission of reaching the unreached in faith. Again, thank you for welcoming me. I very much look forward to meeting you, and listening together for the promptings of the Spirit. In Christ, Fr. Stu, CSP
