A Message from the Family Self-Sufficiency
Program Coordinator
In this issue, the Family Self-Sufficiency Program staff wanted to
recognize our positive efforts to seek ways to improve our service
delivery. The PRHA development team has spearheaded the
redevelopment of our home site in Hope Village and our housing
management team has forged a strong alliance with our team to
ensure residents in compliance with FSSP requirements, are afforded
effective and quality services for employment, training, and educational
pursuits. In addition, housing managers support the need to inform
residents who are not in compliance with the FSSP, at recertification
and annual reviews, what status non-compliance with FSSP will have
in regards to continued housing tenancy. These efforts provide the
FSSP an opportunity to work with residents who are motivated to
achieve economic self-sufficiency.
During our relocation period, our team has enjoyed meeting residents
in community centers, and home sites. We plan to continue to provide
this service upon our return to Hope Village. We have increased the
van service to all workshops, and continue to welcome resident
involvement in FSSP Life Skill sessions. Last quarter, we welcomed
Mr. Emil Thomas to our team. His seasoned expertise as a Job
Developer is a welcome addition to our service network. Our Resident
Council members are emerging as community organizers as they
continue to utilize the resources and information provided in our
Leadership Development series. Three (3) council members from
Seaboard Square joined the Planning Coordinating Committee
meetings!
We are grateful to all residents this quarter who provided an increased
level of volunteer support for softball, cheerleading, posting flyers and
assisting with events. This is a great joy for our team and
collaborators!
