A MESSAGE FROM FR. PROCTORA MESSAGE FROM FR. PROCTOR
It’s Getting Just a Little Bit BrighterIt’s Getting Just a Little Bit Brighter As we approach the Second Sunday of Advent, it is stillpretty dark. But when we light the second candle of ourAdvent wreaths – the candle for Peace – the darkness willget a little bit brighter. The candles of hope and peace thatthe first two candles represent are working hard to bringlight into our darkness. But we’re not there yet. There is still more light to come. Wehave to wait. But as we wait, we are illumined by the light of hope and peace. Sowe do not wait in total darkness. There is a glimmer of hope and a glimmer orpeace. Our waiting is not a frantic, busy waiting. But it is an active waiting. Hope andpeace do not come easily or even naturally for many of us. We must work to behopeful when all evidence suggests otherwise. And we must work to be
peacemakers when conflict surrounds us. Hopeful peacemaking is hard work. But it is part of the holy work of Advent. Andour work is not in vain. The light is beginning to shine in the darkness. Will youactively wait with me?
See you Sunday!Richard+
LEAH HAYESMember of CtK since 2013
How many childrenHow many childrenand/or pets do youand/or pets do youhave?have? Two daughters,Nola age 7 and Lucy age4. We also have astandard poodle namedButtercup Grayton and avery old cat namedBoudin who we rescuedduring Hurricane Katrina. My husband is the onlymale in our housesurrounded by girls. Wehad a fish tank for awhileand I used to tell him Iwas pretty sure even thefish were all female.
What is the last book you read? What is the last book you read? Journey of Souls by Micheal Newton and The
Autobiography of Henry VIII by Margaret George. What’s your favorite “guilty pleasure” dessert? What’s your favorite “guilty pleasure” dessert? Chocolate. Anythingchocolate. The more the better! My current favorites are the churros and chocolateand Nutella molten chocolate cake from La Crema in Rosemary Beach. What was your first job? What was your first job? Babysitting, then being a cocktail waitress. After thatit was all law firms so its a good thing the first couple were interesting. If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose andIf you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose andwhy? why? I have never been one to idolize a particular age, each new phase of life hasso many new wonderful surprises (and difficulties). I could never imagine givingup seeing what is next just to stay at one age forever. At least that is what I amsaying now, check back in 10 years or so! When did you start attending CtK?When did you start attending CtK? When our youngest daughter startedattending The Tree House Episcopal Montessori School a little over two years ago. What has surprised you most about CtK?What has surprised you most about CtK? The beauty of the church and itsmusic, and the diversity of its members. What do you find most gratifying about being apart of this church? What do you find most gratifying about being apart of this church?Working with the children, especially being a part of Vacation Bible School in thesummer. What do you wish other people knew about CtK? What do you wish other people knew about CtK? Hmmm....I am probablythe wrong person to ask about this. I love the small, family feel of CtK. I don'twant word to get out! Like a meal that is too good to share. What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining a committeeWhat would you tell someone who is thinking about joining a committeeat CtK or getting more involved?at CtK or getting more involved? Pray about it, and commit only to somethingyou really care about and make sure you have the time needed for that particularobligation. It is easy to say "yes" to everything and then burn out (famous lastwords of someone who continually overcommits). A church committee should be ablessing in your life, and it is if you are honest about the amount of time you haveto give! There is something for everyone, whether you have a few hours a year or afew hours a week to give.
