Tan fría la lluvia,

que el lago también luce

piel de gallina.

So cold the rain

that the lake also glows

goosebumps.

A pesar del frío,

al bosque sólo lo cubre

un delgado tul.

Despite the cold,

the forest only covers

a thin tulle.

Bajo el guayacán,

flores amarillas.

¿Dónde su sombra?

Under the guayacán,

yellow flowers.

Where’s your shadow?

Sobre la charca,

como fichas de parqués,

gotas de lluvia.

On the pond,

like parquet tiles,

drops of rain.

para ver el jardín:

Mariposa de cristal.

The best window

to see the garden:

Crystal butterfly.

Los zapatos

del profesor no brillan.

El rocío es culpable.

The shoes

of the teacher don’t shine.

The dew is guilty.

el árbol.

Want to play?

He stayed with the ball

como para asir

todo el paisaje.

Rainbow

as if to grasp

the whole landscape.

Al despedirme,

la ventisca. Los árboles

agitaron sus ramas.

While saying good-bye,

the blizzard. The trees

waved their branches.

Las mismas ondas

que la piedra en el lago,

traza la araña.

The same waves

as the stone in the lake,

trace the spider.

Palma de cera:

Desde la raíz, hasta

la tortícolis.

Wax palm tree:

From the root, uo to

the crick in my neck.

Por sobre el muro

rematado en vidrios rotos,

sólo el gato.

From above the wall

topped by broken glass,

only the cat.

Flor de anturio.

Su silueta,

vieja espada.

Anthurium flower.

Your silhouette,

old sword.

A la araña

regala perlas

el rocío.

The dew

gives pearls

to the spider.

El taxi veloz

recuerda a los peatones

que anoche llovió.

The taxi fleet

reminds the pedestrians

that it rained last night.
