Welcome to the little slice of Cromaeverything you’ve always wanted to know...

We’ve been serving up wonderful gourmet pizzas to the lovely people of Manchester for a dozen years now (read about our enigmatic founders on page 5) and this year we’re branching out with our friends at the ODEON (more left) to bring Croma to the film buff. So, it seems a good time to give our customers old and new a tempting taste of all things Croma along with some great offers to boot.

Welcoming kids 2Croma’s chosen charity 3Lunch & Early Bird menus 4Meet the Directors 5Our restaurants 6Designing Croma 9The great Croma menu 10Secret Croma Martini recipe 13What’s on 14Events & parties 16Introducing... our wine buff 18Wine voucher 19Christmas menu 20In June of this year we opened our first restaurant

in partnership with the ODeON Cinema group. A fabulous reworking of the mezzanine of the Tunbridge Wells ODEON has created a stunning 80-seater dining room. The restaurant was designed by Enzo Apicella, and makes fantastic use of the light from the impressive cylindrical window.

Guests dine in an environment that truly enhances the whole cinema going experience, and their dining is accompanied by the black and white silent movies of Charlie Chaplin,

Buster Keaton and the Keystone Kops projected onto the main central wall.

What’s more, it is one of the only (if not the only!) restaurant in the UK where you can order your cinema tickets from the comfort of your own seat, and have them delivered directly to your table… How’s that for service!

We are due to open our second ODEON restaurant later on this year in Loughborough followed, we hope, by a great many more!

For more info visit www.odeon.co.uk and select Tunbridge Wells. 1

The place to be for kids (and mums & dads)

The glamorous ladies at Chorlton Croma on Ladies Day 2012

We were very proud to be awarded the best family friendly restaurant in the Manchester Food & Drink Awards. People tell us what makes us so family friendly is our great value children’s menu, our plentiful high chairs and our entertaining colour-in menus and crayons.

Our discerning younger customers also rave about our world-famous Cromaccino and the fact that they can draw on the tablecloths!

Pizzatinis Children’s menu £4.95 Apple juice, orange juice, milk, cordials,

lemonade or coke

Small Margherita with ham or mushroom or Penne Pasta with tomato & mozzarella

Pizzatini Salad – Cherry tomatoes, carrot & cucumber sticks

Small Ice Cream – Strawberry, chocolate or vanilla

Cromaccino – Frothy milk, dusted with chocolate

Thank you for showing your love for Manchester with your pizza! Croma have been one of our Manchester Million Partners since September 2011 and have donated a whopping £3,200 since then. £2,200 was raised from the specials menu where 50p is donated for every order of the forever Manchester pizza and £1,000 was raised from the ‘Ladies day at Ascot’ event at Croma Chorlton.

Forever Manchester is the Community Foundation for Greater Manchester. We are a charity for people with a passion for Manchester and we want to put money back into our communities so that we can all be proud of where we live. We raise and distribute money to support local people and groups trying to make a positive change in our neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester.

We would like to give all Croma staff and customers a big thank you for their continued support for us and the people of Greater Manchester – long may it continue!

Chorlton CromaChorlton has been a bustling centre of creativity for many years, and was an obvious choice for the location of one of our restaurants. We opened Croma Chorlton in 2005 and it serves south Manchester, although it’s only four miles from Manchester city centre.

Sunny and airy in the summer, warm and cosy in the winter, there’s no need to book for tables of fewer than six people, but if your party is six or more please ring if you’d like to reserve a table.

General Manager: William Moxey 0161 881 1117

Manchester CromaOur Manchester restaurant is where it all began in 2000. Our lively city centre Croma is centrally located next to Albert Square in the hub of the business community and close to many of Manchester’s shops, theatres and attractions. Perfect for a business lunch, catch up with friends after a day shopping, or for a pre-theatre meal. Its spacious, art deco design creates a unique ambience and makes it an ideal place for celebrations, business meetings and events. With no need to book, Croma Manchester looks forward to your visit soon.

Prestwich CromaOur Prestwich restaurant, which opened in 2007, is three miles north of Manchester city centre.

Another individually designed Apicella masterwork – beautiful wooden interiors and white tiled floors, white leather chairs and glass enclosed kitchen bring panache and excitement to Croma Prestwich.

General Manager: Matt Pugsley 0161 798 7666

Designing Croma

Enzo celebrating his 90th birthday and putting the finishing touches to his latest masterpiece for Croma

Enzo is also a journalist, painter and cartoonist, an example of which can be seen on page 20. He collaborates with newspapers and magazines internationally including the Guardian, the Observer, the economist, the Manifesto, Punch, Private eye and Harpers and Queen.

Since moving to London in 1954, Enzo has designed more than 140 restaurants and worked with Peter Boizot, the founder of Pizza Express, to establish

their reputation for colourful and inventive design.

He has also created numerous artworks which appear in all Cromas, including his striking mural in the Manchester branch

As Enzo enters his 90s, we are delighted that he continues to share his talents with us, most recently designing our pizzerias for the ODEON in Tunbridge Wells which opened in June and Loughborough due to open in the Autumn.

All Croma restaurants are designed by the renowned Italian designer, Vincenzo (enzo) Apicella who was born in Naples and has just celebrated his 90th birthday.

five quick questions with Nick

every Little Slice features a different Croma star. ever wonder who chooses Croma’s lovely wines? Wonder no more...

Q. Hello Mr Telfer. What do you do for Croma?N. Hi. I’m Nick, the Wine Buyer.

Q. How long have you been doing this?N. A little over a berzillion years. Well, I wrote the list before we first opened and I’ve been selecting the wines with Bob Dunn ever since.

Q. Sounds like a great job? N. I’m not sure that anyone considers it a job really, it has its good points.

Q. Which are? N. Being able to select wines that we think are great value but also have amazing personality, as independents we find good wines rather than just the cheapest.

Q. Do you have a favourite at the moment? N. I think I’d go for Mimmo and Laura Pasetti’s Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. We’ve been buying this wine for over 8 years and it gets better every year. They are a fantastic family who we know personally and they are ever so pleased that we keep buying from them. Their rich red seems to get us through the miserable summer months as much as the freezing winters!

Nick pictured with a bottle of Pasetti, one of his favourite Croma wines. Look how happy he looks and the bottle’s not even open yet!
