Letter from the GM Notes from Robin: Greetings! Renovation is complete! Thank you all for being so patient during these past several months. I know it was inconvenient at times. It’s exciting to finally see our finished product. What a transformation! For those of you who were unable to attend the Resident Meeting this month, here are the highlights from that meeting: We have new residents moving into 203, 214, 223, 225, 5548 and 5523 within the next month. We want to make sure our new residents feel welcome. If you have any interest in being on the Welcome Committee, please let Sara in Activities know. As a reminder, we do not assign seating in the dining room. If an individual sits in a seat you normally sit in, please do not ask them to move. Perhaps a response such as “May I join you?” Let’s get to know our new neighbors! You never know where it may lead… There will be a Cook-Out for all Lincoln Lodge & Garden Home Residents August 20 th . The theme will be “The State Fair”. Jeff updated us on the new Meijer. He mentioned they will be putting up a 6ft privacy fence along our East property line between the Garden Homes and the Meijer property. You never know where it may lead…

There will be a Cook-Out for all Lincoln Lodge & Garden Home Residents August 20th. The theme will be “The State Fair”.

Jeff updated us on the new Meijer. He mentioned they

will be putting up a 6ft privacy fence along our East

property line between the Garden Homes and the

Meijer property. He also shared that Meijer is

creating a large retention pond on their property that

will also in the event of very heavy rains allow excess

rain water to flow into the AV pond. The excess water

will not affect our lake as it will continue to drain as it

currently does.

Lincoln Lodge Residents; the outside of your

apartment door, leading into the hall, is considered

community property. Although you are welcome to

decorate your door, we ask that you refrain from using

tape, stickers or nails on the wallpaper.

Concerns about mosquitoes- we have contacted the Health Department to handle this.

A suggestion was made to have signs made that say “Do not feed the geese”. Jeff is looking into this. As always, please do feel free to drop in and see me. Have a terrific month!

Health Notes from Kayla Kuryvail

New Energy Wellness

August Health Article:

Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging (BLSA)

The BLSA was conducted in order to study the

aging processes and discover solutions that can

reduce the burden of disease and disability for

older adults.

Two major conclusions can be drawn from BLSA

data. First, “normal” aging can be distinguished

from disease. Although people’s bodies change

and can in some ways decline over time, these

changes do not inevitably lead to diseases such as

diabetes, hypertension, or dementia.

Second, no single, chronological timetable of

human aging exists. We all age differently.

Genetics, lifestyle, and disease processes affect

the rate of aging between and within all

individuals.
