How much did all these programs do?

Lots of people have argued that the projects helped and hurt the American Economy.

Although a lot of debt was accrued by this deficit spending it gave hope to the people.

“We have provided the machinery to restore our financial system. . .and it is up to you to support and make it work”

The people’s reaction

“I do think that Roosevelt is the biggest-hearted man we ever had in the White House. . . It’s the first time in my recollection that a President ever got up and said, ‘I’m interested in and aim to do something for the working’. Just knowing that for once. . . There was a man to stand up and speak for him, a man that could make what he felt so plain nobody could doubt he meant it, has made a lot of us feel a sight better even when there wasn’t much to eat in our homes”
