What You Need to Know Before You Start

Setting Up Your AccountSetting Up Your Account

Go to Craigslist.com and click on the Log In text in the first column of the homepage.

Then, go to the bottom of the sign-in widget and click on, “Sign up for an account”.

Enter your email address Enter the verification word(s) as shown Click on Create Account Your verification email will be immediately sent to you.

You will then be required to choose a password. Click the Submit Password and Log in button

Once logged in, you will be directed to a Terms of Use page. After reading, you will need to click on the “I Accept” button in order to use CraigsList

To Post a ListingTo Post a Listing Once Logged into your account, you will see the

following screen. On the top right-hand corner, click on the city/state you will be posting your listing.

Click the “Go” button – This screen is also where you can make changes to your listing and/or account

You are only permitted to post to one geographic area and one category.

Click on the “housing offered” text link

Choose a CategoryChoose a Category

You are given a selection of categories to choose from. Choose the one that is appropriate for you.

Add Your Property DescriptionAdd Your Property Description Add the Property Price Add a Catchy Title List the City or Town Where You’re Listing is Located You Have the Option to Show Your Direct Email Address or

Keep It Private Post a Glowing Description of the Property Add the Street, Nearest Cross Street, City and State in Which

the Property is Located Upload Property Photos Click the “Continue” Button

Here’s a little tip to make this process easy:You can include html

in your posting description.  If you create an ad in Postlets or Real Bird,

you have an option at the end to "Copy/Paste html". 

This can be copied and pasted into the Posting Description on your Craigslist ad.

Verify Information is CorrectVerify Information is Correct Verify that the information you entered is

correct.  This is where you can make any changes you want before publishing. 

Make absolutely sure that all the information is correct because Craigslist does not edit these ads for you. 

Click continue.

Enter captcha words exactly as you see them and click continue.
