WOW, what a week we have had! This week we have;

Our Grade Five and Six students visited the Pakenham Cultural Centre and were able to

participate in the Tiger PAW program.

Tiger PAW is our new program designed to improve vital life skills for children; by using the

power of AFL football to influence changing behaviours.

Consisting of four modules, Tiger PAW educates children on basic physical activity, diet and

healthy eating, diversity and discrimination and finally helping them to be more resilient in the face of adversity.

On Tuesday we concluded our Swimming Program for 2019. All students, that were able to participate have been challenged, supported and received some excellent feedback. Thanks goes to the Pakenham pool for their wonderful work and transference of knowledge during the program. I was so proud to receive an email advising me that some students were tested for their Victorian Water Safety Certificate. To achieve this the students were required to swim 50 metres (25metres must have been freestyle), scull/tread water for 2- 5 minutes, remove extra clothes in the water and demonstrate rescue skills and water safety knowledge. I’m eagerly waiting to find out how many were successful so watch this space!

To everyone who participated in the swimming program- CONGRACONGRACONGRACONGRATULATIONS, TULATIONS, TULATIONS, TULATIONS,

You’You’You’You’re AMAZING!!!re AMAZING!!!re AMAZING!!!re AMAZING!!! Thank you Meredith for coordinating this program.

Wednesday …… had the opportunity to participate in the Cooking Program giving them an opportunity to learn some vital life skills while learn about nutrition. I was so excited to see them measuring, reading, discussing and extending their collaborative behaviours. Thank you to the PFA for enabling this opportunity for our students (and Teachers, I have learnt a lot). If you would like to help or support the program please pop into the Office or Let Karen or Roz know.

Today, Friday we celebrated BOOK WEEK. What an amazing opportunity to celebrate literature and the love of reading. Students participated in a variety of activities during the day, none bigger than our whole school celebratory parade and surprise story time with Sarah (special thanks to all of the teachers for their involvement including sensational rap voices to conclude the performance). This

activity was another example of, not only our student’s enthusiasm to celebrate their learning but also our commitment from families to support the students with their amazing dress up ideas. Special thanks to Jutta and Amanda for organising a wonderful celebration!

If anyone has any spare/ unused black pants, especially larger or smaller sizes (5 or 4) we would love if you could donate them to our Sick Bay. This would enable us to change our treasures after minor accidents or… mud fights.

On a personal note I, on behalf of the Staff would like to send out our heartfelt condolences to our friends and colleagues at Emerald Secondary College who are grieving the loss of Trent. We can sympathise with what they are going through as a school community. I was so proud of all of the Teachers when, last Thursday I had to let them know of the tragedy every single teacher said “How can we help?”

This is indicative of our expectations, kids, school and community- We all pitch in a support each other. What a great place to be!!! Our love and support goes to everyone in our community who has been touched by the loss of Trent, especially his family.

Before I end this week’s Principal report I would like to share some feedback I have had. Friday night I received a message complimenting me on the way last week’s report read. Sometimes we forget how important these moments are. This feedback made my day! I wanted to follow this up by letting all of our families know that… We could not and would not be the school we are without you! Your kids that you entrust to us daily and, we relabel as are the best in the world and we are the luckiest Teachers in the world that you chose our School! Thanks for a great week Cockatoo!
