ANA’s commitment to advance the profession’s foundational work revolves around ethics and standards. In this role, the ANA owns and promotes the Code of Ethics for Nurses With Interpretive Statements and develops and maintains standards of practice.

●Scope and Standards of PracticeThe new Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice is a complete revision of the 1998 edition and delineates the professional activities and accountabilities of all practicing registered nurses in any care settings.

●Nursing’s Social Policy StatementThe second edition of Nursing’s Social Policy Statement details: nursing’s relationship with society; the profession’s contributions to healthcare; and, nurses obligation to recipients of care.
