Madhvi parekh

Madhvi Parekh was born in Sanjaya, a village in Gujarat (1942). Madhvi Parekh reflects her rural influences in her stylized folk art. A self- taught artist, Madhvi’s work has its inspiration in rural India, while her style is contemporary. Influenced by artists such as Paul Klee and Clemente, her subjects have a freshness and spontaneity to them which lend it a surreal, dreamlike quality. She has been exhibiting her work since 1972, all over the world and has more close to a hundred solo and group shows to her credit.

KHoJ. (to) search, hunt, explore, discover, discern, seek, inquire, trace, track, quest, research, investigate.

KHoJ began as a proposition: a space for artists, run by artists.

from its modest beginnings 13 years ago as an annual workshop, it has grown into a unique independent space for the incubation of ideas. a space where vibrant imaginations are nurtured. Khoj has created unconventional synapses between art and disciplines such as science, technology, architecture and fashion. It is constantly expanding the understanding and development of cutting edge contemporary art practice in India. an organization that works with, and for, creative practitioners across disciplines.

through a variety of projects including workshops, residencies, exhibitions, talks and public and socially engaged practices, KHoJ studios has catalysed a community of artists into networks across India, and actively developed the south asia network for the arts.
