Similes
What is a simile?
Similes are comparisons that show how two nouns that are not alike in most ways are similar in one important way.
Similes use the words “as” or “like” to make the connection between the two things that are being compared.
Similes are a way to describe something. Authors use them to make their writing more
interesting or entertaining.
Mason can run
as fast as lightning!
Khloe is
as sweet as a peach!
Connor is
as strong as a bull.
Isaiah and his brother
would never fight like cats and dogs.
Avery is
as wise as an owl.
Kayla is
graceful like a swan.
Alexis runs
as fast as a cheetah.
