“A FAMINE FOR THE WORD”

1. What Can You Tell About These Pictures: Remember the exercises we used to

do as children?

A. So if as children we were taught that all things are not alike, how come now asadults we are now being told, “ just take your pick, all Bibles are alike?”

2.  Things that are DIFFERENT… Are NOT the same!!!

B. Have you ever really thought about it? If there are so many Bibles, and they all readdifferently, which Bible would be the real word of God?

C. So the Question is, Which Bible is God‟s word?

3. Which Bible is God‟s Word? Cont:

A. A Bible Version is a translation made directly from the original Hebrew orGreek: i.e. from Hebrew or Greek into Syriac, Latin or English.

B. Bible versions were made in several languages within a few years of the NewTestament's creation.

C. A Translation of a version into yet another language is simply called atranslation.

D. A Paraphrased Bible restates text or passages in another form or other words,

often to clarify meaning.

E. Keep in mind that a paraphrase is the understanding of the author about a text orpassage, not necessarily the intent of the Holy Spirit.

4. A Famine for the Word

“Those who do not now appreciate, study, and dearly prize the Word of God spoken by Hisservants will have cause to mourn bitterly hereafter. I saw that the Lord in judgment will at theclose of time walk through the earth; the fearful plagues will begin to fall. Then those who havedespised God's Word, those who have lightly esteemed it, shall "wander from sea to sea,and from the north even to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the Word of the Lord andshall not find it" (Amos 8:12). A famine is in the land for hearing the Word. ”--Ms1, 1857. {LDE234.}

5.  If The Foundation be Destroyed, what can The Righteous do?

Psalm 11:3

A. The foundation of all doctrine is the Bible. Having the right Bible is criticallyimportant!!

B. “It had been Rome's policy, under a profession of reverence for the Bible, to keep

it locked up in an unknown tongue and hidden away from the people. Under her rulethe witnesses prophesied "clothed in sackcloth." But another power --the beast from thebottomless pit-- was to arise to make open, avowed war upon the word of God .{GC 269}

C.  This other power came on the scene in the late 18th century in the form of secularhumanism, atheism, and/or scientific reasoning. The sinner friendly new age bibles are the results of the reemergence of the Rome-ish power. It still wars against the wordof God, but in its original subtle covert way.

6. A Fearful Warning

A. “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, Iany man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are writtenin this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the Book of this prophecy,

God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, And from thethings which are written in this book.”  Revelation 22:18 -19

B. “I saw that God had especially guarded the Bible; yet when copies of it were few, learnedmen had in some instances changed the words, thinking that they were making it moreplain, when in reality they were mystifying that which was plain, by causing it to lean totheir established views, which were governed by tradition. But I saw that the Word of God,as a whole, is a perfect chain, one portion linking into and explaining another. True seekers fortruth need not err; for not only is the Word of God plain and simple in declaring the way of life,but the Holy Spirit is given as a guide in understanding the way to life therein revealed.” {EW 220.2}

7. TEXTUS RECEPTUS…THE MAJORITY TEXT

VS

CODEX SINAITICUS (ALEPH)

A.  TEXTUS RECEPTUS…THE MAJORITY TEXT:

The Traditional Received Text (Textus Receptus), also called the Byzantine Text or theMajority Text because it is based on the vast majority of manuscripts still in existence

. These extant manuscripts (MSS) were brought together by various editors such as Lucian (AD 250-312), Erasmus, Stephanus, Beza and the Elzevir brothers to form the text known as

Textus Receptus, the name given to the Majority Text in the 17th century.

B.  CODEX SINAITICUS (ALEPH) :

This codex was produced in the 4th century. In his book “Let's Weigh the Evidence ”  , BarryBurton writes of Codex Sinaiticus: "The Sinaiticus is a manuscript that was found in 1844 in a trash pile in St.Catherine's Monasterynear Mt. Sinai, by a man named Constantin von Tischendorf. It contains nearly all of the NewTestament plus it adds the 'Shepherd of Hermes' and the 'Epistle of Barnabas' to the NewTestament. The Sinaiticus is extremely unreliable, proven by examining the manuscript itself.John Burgon spent years examining every available manuscript of the New Testament. Hewrites about Sinaiticus...

'On many occasions 10, 20, 30, 40 words are dropped through very carelessness. Letters, words or even whole sentences are frequently written twice over, or begun and immediatelycancelled; while that gross blunder, whereby a clause is omitted because it happens to end inthe same words as the clause preceding, occurs no less than 115 times in the New Testament. ”

C. Hermes, the herald of the Olympian gods, is the son of Zeus and the nymph Maia, daughterof Atlas and one of the Pleiades. Hermes is the god of shepherds, land travel, merchants, weights and measures, oratory, literature, athletics and thieves, and known for his cunning and

shrewdness. Most importantly, he is the messenger of the gods. Besides that hewas also a minor patron of poetry. He was worshiped throughout Greece  – especially in Arcadia -- and festivals in his honor were called Hermoea.

8 Modern Versions & Translators

Most, if not all, modern translations are based on or influenced throughout by theAlexandrian manuscripts Sinaiticus and Vaticanus. In effect there really are only TwoEnglish language Bibles to choose from:.

- The King James Version based on the Masoretic Hebrew Text and the Majority Greek Text.

- The Revised Versions: which are based on the Minority Text. . This version has spawned awhole generation of inaccurate translations: which, like their unholy mother the RV, all relyheavily on the Minority Text.

A. A list of a Few of the 100+ Modern Bibles which Followed the Minority Text

• The R evised V ersion of (1881-5)

• The American Standard Version (1901)• The Moffatt Bible (1935)• The New World Translation (1950-3, 1960-1, 1970 & 1984)• The Revised Standard Version (1952)• The Amplified Bible (1958-64)• The Jerusalem Bible (1966) Catholic

• The N ew I nternational V ersion (1966)• The New English Bible (1970)• The New American Bible (1970)• J B Phillips' New Testament (1972)• New American Standard Version (1971)• Good News Bible (1976 and 1994)

9. Why Early Christians & the Protestant Reformers Reject the MinorityTexts:

The Minority Texts were the work of unbelieving Egyptian scribes who did not accept theBible as the Word of God or JESUS as the SON of GOD!

The Minority Texts abound with alterations, often a single manuscript being amended byseveral different scribes over a period of many years: something the Aaronic priests andMasorites would never have tolerated when making copies of the Scriptures.

The Minority Texts omit approximately 200 verses from the Scriptures. This is equivalentto 1st and 2nd Peter.

The Minority Texts contradict themselves in hundreds of places. The Minority Texts are doctrinally weak and often dangerously incorrect.

10 . Why Early Churches of the 2 nd  & 3 rd  Centuries & all the Protestant

Reformers of the 15 th – 17 th Centuries Choose T extus R eceptus in

Preference to the Minority Text:

T  R - is based on the vast majority (90%) of 5000+Greek manuscripts in existence.

That is why it also called the Majority Text.

T R - is not mutilated with deletions, additions & amendments, as Minority Text.

T R - agrees with earliest versions of the Bible: Peshitta (AD150) Old Latin Vulgate

(AD157), the Italic Bible (AD157) etc. These Bibles were produced some 200yrs before the minority Egyptian codices favoured by the Roman Church.

T R - agrees with vast majority of the 86,000+ citations from scripture by early church fathers.

T R  - is untainted with Egyptian philosophy & unbelief.

T R - strongly upholds fundamental doctrines of Christian faith: the creation

account in Genesis, the divinity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth, his miracles, his bodily resurrection & literal return.

T R - was & still is - the enemy of the Roman Church.

11.  VERSIONS BASED ON THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS / THE MAJORITY TEXT

• The Gallic Bible (Southern France) (AD177)• The Gothic Bible (AD 330-350)• The Old Syriac Bible (AD 400)• The Armenian Bible (AD 400) There are 1244 copies still in existence.• The Palestinian Syriac (AD 450)• The French Bible of Oliveton (AD 1535)• The Czech Bible (AD 1602)• The Italian Bible of Diodati (AD 1606)• The Greek Orthodox Bible: Used from Apostolic times to the present

day the Greek Orthodox Church.

• The Authorized K ing J ames Bible (AD 1611) KJV

• A.  A vital fact to remember is that though codices Aleph and B (produced in the 4th century)

are older than other Greek manuscript copies of the Scriptures, they are not older than thePeshitta, Italic, the Old Latin Vulgate and the Waldensian versions which were produced200 years earlier in the 2nd century. All these versions, copies of which are still in

existence, agree with T extus R eceptus, the underlying text of the K ing J ames Bible.

  “ Isaiah 28:7-13 ”  NIV vs KJV

NIV

7   “And these also (1)stagger from wine and (2) reel from beer: Priests and prophets

(3) stagger from beer and are (4) befuddled with wine; (5) they reel from beer, they (6) stagger when seeing visions, they stumble (7)when rendering decisions.

8  All the tables are covered with vomit and there is not a spot without filth. 9  Who is (8) it he is trying to teach? To whom (9) is he explaining his message?

(10)To children weaned from their milk, to those just taken from the breast?

10  For it is (11)Do and do, do and do, (12) rule on rule, rule on rule; a little here

a little, there.

11 Very well then, with (13)foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to

this people,

12  To whom he said, "This (14)is the resting place, let the weary rest"; and, " (15) “This

is the place of repose" but they would not listen.

13  So then, the word of the LORD to them will become (16)Do and do, do and do, (17) rule

on rule, rule on rule; a little here, a little there-- so that they will go and fall backward, (18) be injured and

snared and captured.”

KJV

7   “But they also (1) have erred through wine, and through (2) strong drink are out of the way; the priest

and the prophet have (3)erred through strong drink, they are (4)swallowed up of wine, they (5) are outof way through strong drink; (6) they err in vision, they (7)stumble in judgment.

8  For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

9  (8) Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom (9)shall he make to understand doctrine? (10) Them

that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10  For (11)precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; (12) line upon line, line upon line;

here a little, and there a little:

11 For with (13)stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12  To whom he said, This (14) is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and (15) this is the

refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13. But the word of the LORD was unto them (16)precept upon precept, precept upon precept; (17) line

upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, (18) and bebroken, and snared, and taken.”

And The Conclusion of The Whole Matter: The Prophetic Pen Supports The KJV

“ Those who are in responsible positions are not to become converted to the self-indulgent, extravagant principles of the world, for they cannot afford it; and if they could, Christlike principles would not allow it.

Manifold teaching needs to be given. "Whom shall He teach knowledge? and whom shall He make tounderstand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be

upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little." Thus theword of the Lord is patiently to be brought before the children and kept before them, by parents who believe the

word of God. "For with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to this people. To whom He said,

This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon

line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and  taken." Why?--because they did not heed the word of the Lord that came unto them. {TM 418.2}

This means those who have not received instruction, but have cherished their own wisdom, and have chosen

to work themselves according to their own ideas. The Lord gives these the test, that they shall either take their

position to follow His counsel, or refuse and do according to their own ideas, and then the Lord will leave them

to the sure result. In all our ways, in all our service to God, He speaks to us, "Give Me thine heart." It is the submissive, teachable spirit that God wants. That which gives to prayer its excellence is the fact that it is

breathed from a loving, obedient heart. {TM 419.1}God requires certain things of His people; if they say, I will not give up my heart to do this thing, the Lord lets

them go on in their supposed wise judgment without heavenly wisdom, until this scripture [Isaiah 28:13] is

fulfilled. You are not to say, I will follow the Lord's guidance up to a certain point that is in harmony with my judgment, and then hold fast to your own ideas, refusing to be molded after the Lord's similitude. Let the

question be asked, Is this the will of the Lord? not, Is this the opinion or judgment of-----? {TM 419.2}

Esoteric ChristianityThe “lesser mysteries”  By ANNIE BESANT

A QUEST BOOKThis publication made possible with the assistance of the Kern Foundation THE THEOSOPHICAL PUBLISHING HOUSEWheaton, Ill., U.S.A.Madras, India/London, England

His the Presence that cheered the solitary mystics, the hunted occultists, the patient

seekers after truth. The deities who are worshipped are, for the most part, the veriest devils, but behind,

beyond all these, there is a dim but glorious over-arching Presence seldom or never

named, but whispered of as source of all, as power and love and goodness, too tender to

awaken terror, too good to require supplication.

•  * The Presence” is another name for Lucifer

•  Annie Besant is a Luciferian

29. New Discoveries Suppressed

•  All new versions, including the NKJV, introduce readings from the corrupt Dead SeaScrolls, The New York Times published an editorial in Sept. 7, 1991. It said of the DeadSea Scroll Committee, the “cloak and dagger scholarship long ago exhausted its

credibility with scholars and layman alike.” • The very first person to handle the scrolls was none other than Jesuit trained UN

official Philippe Lippens.• Few people know that the scrolls were under the complete control of the Roman

Catholic Church for 40 years, under the direction of the French Dominican EcoleBiblique, which is in turn, under the Pontifical Biblical Commission. This commissionis another name for the Doctrine of the Faith, which was re-named so in 1965, havingpreviously been called the Holy Office since 1542, and before that the Holy Inquisition.

• In the book, “The Dead Sea Scroll Deception ,” it discovered that, “the RC brethren ofthe team…were trying to hide things…the RC church is intent on suppressing this

material…Scholars outside the team have suspected that some form of monitoringand selection was taking place…The implication of all this is staggering…(the scrollwas) edited…adjusted or distorted until it conforms to the official Catholicteaching… One can only wonder what might have happened to any fragment that helddoctrines opposed to that of the Church.” (pp. 114,55-59)

• So the NIV and NKJV are skating on thin ice when they alter the traditional text andfollow a reading in the Dead Sea Scrolls. When complaints were voiced that the

scrolls were being dishonestly handled and when it was discovered that Father deVoux, the Director of the project was an alcoholic,

• According to Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini. He is the only working member left fromthe Greek Text Committee, which underlies the NIV and almost all new versions.  Hewrote in his book, “In the Thick of his Ministry,” that man could be divine. (p.42) This

is not new for Roman Catholics, they often quote Irenaeus as saying, “God becameman, that man might become gods.” In a recent newspaper the Western Catholic Reporter, Sept. 7, 1997 on p. 16 , they say, “The church teaches that the priest is notsimply an ordained man…but rather in celebrating the sacraments is Jesus Christhimself.”

•  The new versions are slowly starting to support this false doctrine that Jesus’ real

Presence is in the communion. The J.W. New World Translation uses the term

“the presence”  24 times. Now the NRSV has replaced the expression “the

shewbread” with “ the presence”  in Matt.12:4, Mark 2:21, Luke 6:4 and Heb.9:2 . It

slipped in the NASV in Rev.6:16 and the NKJV in 2 Cor. 2:10. Not surprisingly, the NIVhas removed the phrase “the presence of the Lord” or “the presence of God”

several dozen times.[Any place where this term will contradict their own cryptic pagan definition ]

30. The Verdict is in :The King James Version is The True Version

 A Preponderance of Evidence!

A.  Historical Evidences for the Received Text  During the Apostolic Age (33-100 A.D.)1) All of the Apostolic Churches used the Received kind of Text.2) The churches in Palestine used the Received kind of Text.3) The Syrian Church at Antioch used the Received kind of Text.

4) The Pre-Waldensian churches used the Received kind of Text.5) The Waldensians (120 A.D. and onward) used the Received kind of Text.6)

B. Historical Evidences for the Received Text  During the Early Modern Period(1453-1831 A.D.)

7) The churches of the Reformation all used the Received kind of Text.8) Martin Luther’s German Bible (1522) used the Received kind of Text.9) William Tyndale’s Bible, (1525), used the Received kind of Text.10)The KING JAMES BIBLE (1611) used the Received kind of Text  and is the origina

Received kind of Text.

C. In the book called The First New Testament . It reveals an A.D. 50 or 60 date for somefragments of Mark, 1 Timothy, and James. Upon examination, letter by letter, these match theKJV readings. The author says,“It behoves the layman and woman who sit in the pews andpay the bills to demand that their clergy and denominational professors…give the dateand the authority of the New Testament a new and reverent consideration… All thecontemporary…views will come crashing down in one inglorious heap.”
