OPENING PRAYER

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

You, O Lord, have called us to enter into your gates with joyful singing, yet how often we

grumble and complain. You have blessed us in many aspects of our lives, yet so often we

lack a basic gratitude for all that is wonderful in creation and in life. Restore us to joy

through worship, to grace through living, and to love in all of our relationships. Remind us

in all of our living of the tremendous, heart warming gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, Our

Lord, and Redeemer. It is in His name that we ask this.

(Silence for personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

RESPONSIVE SONG NO. 129 “Be Still, For the Spirit of the Lord” (vs. 1)

Be still, for the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy One, is here. Come, bow before him now, with

reverence and with fear. In him no sin is found, we stand on holy ground. Be still, for the

Spirit of the Lord, the Holy One, is here.

Church Wide Concerns

Please pray for these concerns of our partner church in

Malawi, Mtenthera CCAP:

• The call of a new fulltime minister. They are now

being served by their second visiting pastor and we

pray the church not become discouraged as they wait

for the new minister expected now in June or July.

• The restoration of disciplined elders. Seven elders

were disciplined by the presbytery. Pray for their

hearts to be moved to take actions needed to be

restored to full membership in the church.

• Building of the girls’ hostel. We have experienced

many delays and challenges in completing this

project. Please pray that Hussein Latif and Mr. Joel

are committed and empowered to lead this project

to completion in 2015.

• Food security. The harvest will not be good this year.

Please pray that our friends in Malawi have enough

to eat and that we can support them with aid and

training to improve their food supply in years to

come.

• Rev. Banda. The former pastor still awaits a call to a

new congregation. Please pray that he can be patient

as he waits God’s call upon his life and also that his

family is provided for during this time of transition.

The Joyful Ringers participated in the Area 5 Ring Retreat held at the

Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island at the end of April. The retreat was

scheduled before the opening of the season at the hotel and we were

able to see many of the rooms in the hotel that you would normally

never see. Over 300 ringers were in attendance and what a wonderful

sound from all those bells and chimes. The director was Fred

Gramann, who is an American currently serving as Music Director and

Organist at the American Church of Paris in France. Fred is also a

composer and has written many pieces for handbells. The Joyful Ring-

ers and three other choirs were asked to perform a solo piece during

the final concert. The performance was fabulous. It was a great time of

learning and ringing as well as a time to strengthen the bond of our

group. We are currently planning for workshops this fall and another

area festival next spring in Dayton, Ohio. We appreciate your prayers

and financial support as we continue to represent FPCP in Area 5 of

the Handbell Musicians of America. We will be ringing for the first

time in the Upper Room this morning.

HEARTBEAT OF PLYMOUTH FESTIVAL RETURNS ON AUGUST 15 & 16, 2015

The Heartbeat of Plymouth returns to Kellogg Park and the Penn theater with its various activities on Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16. Five area churches sponsor the Festival which includes two outstanding speakers: Brian Hardin, a podcast Biblical Teacher whose “audience” is approaching 60 million downloads, and Susan Isaacs, a comedienne, screenwriter, and author whose credits include highly successful Hollywood films and a top Religion Book of the Year Award—”Angry Conversations with God.” Hardin and Isaccs will be featured at the Penn on both Saturday and Sunday at noon. Tickets for this event will be available at each of the sponsoring churches: First Presbyterian, Our Lady of Good Counsel, First United Methodist, Church of the Nazarene and Praise Baptist. Tickets at our church will go on sale starting Sunday, June 14 in the Narthex, before and after all services. The cost is $10 each and we recommend that you invite your friends, neighbors, relatives and co-workers to what promises to be an out-standing experience. Remember… the Festival is more than listening to speakers in the Penn. Over the two day event, we will have a number of contemporary Christian bands scheduled throughout the day and various activities for children and youth in the park. PLEASE JOIN US!

Presbyterian Women present the

Presbyterian Coffee Project ~ Good Coffee for a Good Cause ~

The Presbyterian Coffee Project offers a special link between congregations and communities around the world. Churches can now reach out to neighbors overseas not only with the prayers and offerings we give, but with the goods and products we purchase. A warm cup of coffee (or tea) in our hands is perhaps the most tangible daily connection we have with farmers around the world. It represents warmth, hospitality, fellowship, hard work and life’s pleasures both fine and simple. Buy-ing fair trade through the Presbyterian Coffee Project ensures that more of the money we spend on coffee reaches the hardworking farmers who actually grow it.

You will have the opportunity to taste and purchase this coffee and tea TODAY during Coffee Hour. We have a variety of coffees to choose from including, decaf and whole bean. These products will be available for purchase in the Narthex and will also be available the first Sunday of each month through the remainder of the year. Please help us support our neighbors both near and far by ensuring equity for all. Thank you.

Haiti Nursing Foundation

The Nat’l/Int’l Mission Committee supports many organizations in addition to our partnership with Mtenthera CCAP church in Malawi. One of those organizations is the Haiti Nursing Foundation, which Presbyterian Women also support. This organization is dedicated to improving nursing education in Haiti, with particular focus on FSIL Nursing School in Léogâne, Haiti. Visit their website at www.haitinursing.org for more information. On Sunday, June 14th, the congregation will have the opportunity to meet Marica Lane, Executive Director of Haiti Nursing Foundation. Marcia will inform us about the current activities happening within the organization and ways we can help to support them. The cost of sponsoring one student’s tuition for one year is $4,000.00. Donations will be accepted that morning. If donating, checks can be made payable to FPCP with HNF on the memo line.

The Haiti Nursing Foundation is transforming health care in Haiti one nurse at a time!

EARTH CARE TEAM

DID YOU KNOW? Seven 4th and 5th grade Sunday school students planted 14 pots of 'red milkweed' in the church parking lot island bed? They also took the planted seeds of 'orange milkweed' for gardening at home. Hopefully these plants will attract many beautiful butterflies for the adults and children of our congregation to enjoy! Visit our new Earth Care team webpage on the church website: Serve – Presbyterian Women – Earth Care Team for the latest updates on earth care activities and updates. Feel free to join us for our next Earth Care Team meeting on Tuesday, June 9th, at 7:00 p.m. in the church Dining Room. But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:7-10
