A Familiar Face In a New Place
RTC has seen a change this year. Mrs. Paeth, who was a familiar face at school last year, is our new RTC coordinator. Mrs. Paeth worked at Bangor Central last year as a special education aide. This year finds her in RTC helping students make responsible choices and make plans for their success.
Mrs. Paeth has two children at Bangor Central. Luke is in third grade and Alicen is in first grade. She is also one of the leaders of the Boy Scout troop at Bangor Central. We welcome her to his new position and are excited to have her in this new role.

Early Release This Wednesday, September 17, is our first early release day. School will dismiss at 2:31. The district early release days are an opportunity for our elementary staffs to meet for professional development and school improvement planning. This is one more way we can collaborate to make our district the best it can be.
NWEA
This week and next we will be doing our NWEA math and reading assessments. The NWEA is an on-line assessment that gives us valuable information about where students are performing, and what areas we need to target instruction. As the year progresses, it will also show us the growth students have made in reading and math. Please encourage your child to do his or her best.
Model Bobcats
The Life Principle for September is Friendship. We are celebrating those students who are reaching out to be a good friend, caring for and trusting others. Congratulations to our Model Bobcats who have demonstrated Friendship.

DHS Parthership DHS (the Department of Human Services) and Bangor Central have begun a partnership this school year to help serve the children and families of Bangor Central. The program is call Pathways to Potential with a focus on five key factors: Attendance/Chronic absenteeism Safety Education Health Self Sufficiency
37% of Michigan students were chronically absent (defined as greater than 10 days per year) in the 2012-‐2013 school year. Our goal is to reduce absenteeism and offer assistance to help all of the students at Bangor Central succeed and attend school every day. DHS offers the following programs: Food Assistance, Medical Assistance (Medicaid), Child Day Care (to assist with paying for daycare), and State Emergency Relief (assistance with utility shut offs and housing issues). If you feel you could benefit from any of these programs please visit www.michigan.gov/mibridges for further information. Eligibility varies from program to program and is based on factors such as household size, income limits and asset limits. If you currently have a student attending Bangor Central or Bangor Lincoln and have a case with DHS, your caseworker is Mrs. Rosebrock and she is stationed at Bangor Central every other week and at Bangor Lincoln on the opposite week. You can reach her by phone at 989-‐225-‐1309 or email at [email protected]
