New Years' Haiti Benefit

Transcript of A Cry for Freedom

On January 12, 2010 at 4:53pm local time, the people of the Caribbean Nation of Haiti would never be the same. Their lives were forever changed when an earthquake, magnitude of

7.0, rocked the very core of the nation. Little did they know that just 6.2 miles beneath the surface of their world loomed a disaster that would kill over 250,000 families, friends, neighbors, and children. Little did they know that just 16 miles away from Port Au Prince, in the town of Leogane, total destruction of property, livelihoods, hopes, dreams and lives was surging toward them. A young girl walking home from school never made it home. A Mother preparing dinner for her family never completed the meal; the cry of a baby wanting a bottle was snuffed out in an instant. And if that wasn’t enough, the aftermath of this disaster lurked in the near future…

And now, one year later, the still displaced survivors face being driven off the land that they have built their tent homes on by the landowners who want to reclaim their land…over 2,500 people have died due to Cholera, (an acute intestinal infection caused by the ingestion of contaminated water or food), and at one point 60-80+ people were dying daily from this disease. We can’t just stand by and watch from our comfortable homes, on our cushiony couches and watching our flat screen TVs…it’s time to take action.

Faith on Fire Global Ministries will send this year out by assisting in the aid for disaster relief to the nation of Haiti. The year began in tragedy for this already impoverished nation; but tonight, we end the year by being one of many outstretched hands, reaching out, grabbing hold, and pulling up our brothers, sisters and children of Haiti.

Love knows no color; love shows no prejudice;Love is not blind to pain; love does not hide itself from truth;

Love does not turn its back on sorrow;But love restores; love refreshes; love delivers, love heals,

And love sets free; love hears the call;Love answers the call, and yes, love even died for us all.
