A Comprehensive Collection of the Recent Literature on the Social Impact of Globalization prepared by Bernhard G. Gunter* on behalf of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization The purpose of this bibliography is to provide a comprehensive collection of the recent literature on the social impact of economic globalization, which concentrates on the social impact of increased international trade, increased international capital flows, and increased international production. Some of the broader globalization literature was also included as far as the contributions touched on economic aspects and policy recommendations. On the other hand, contributions that center on non-economic aspects of globalization like the globalization of culture and/or global environmental issues have usually been excluded. The bibliography was originally prepared in December 2002 and then updated in December 2003. It covers the literature published since January 1997, though a few earlier path-breaking publications have also been included. Of the more than 1200 contributions listed in this bibliography, approximately 280 have been published before January 2000, with the remainder published since then (including about 30 books that are scheduled to be published in 2004). Section B contains some useful internet resources, structured into two subsections: (1) websites resources on globalization; and (2) websites with bibliographies on globalization. December 2003 * Dr. Gunter is a freelance consultant, specializing on development macroeconomics, poverty and debt. He is working for a variety of international organizations and civil society organizations. Valuable comments from Dr. Rolph van der Hoeven are thankfully acknowledged. All remaining omissions and errors are those of the author.
