Whole school performance dates for diary dates:

The staff and students are working hard on their

preparations for the Annual Whole School Perfor-

mance. The performances will be:

Matinee - 18th September at 12pm

Evening - 19th September at 6pm Please put these dates on your calendar, the students

look forward to seeing you there.

Look out for information about the sale of tickets for

the show and items your child may need for their act.

Some children will be in their dance group item as

well as their class item. You child’s class teacher would really appreciate any

support you may be able to give. This could include

assistance making stage decorations, costumes or

props. This is a great event in our school year and we look

forward to support from our families to make the

event spectacular.

Creating The Future’ Concert At the Mount Druitt Minchinbury Public Schools ‘Creating The

Future’ Concert, there were a lot of performances. Mrs Vaughan

drove us there in her car. Two students from our school were lucky

enough to be a speaker at the concert. My favourite performance

was ‘Boys in Harmony’ from Rooty Hill High School . I knew it

would be fun because I spoke there last year. It was awesome!

-Chrissy

At the Mount Druitt Minchinbury Public Schools creating the Fu-

ture Concert there was a concert for high school and primary

schools and they had to do dancing singing and alot more. My

favourite performance “:Boy” in harmony from Rooty Hill High

School and Bidwill Beats from Bidwill-

Maikolo

Attendance We are into a very busy term with a lot of activities

happening in our school. It’s great to see so many

students attending school each day. However, we

would like to see our attendance rate improve over

the term. There are incentives for students who at-

tend school every day. To give an example some-

time during the term we will anticipate on holding a

School Blitz for a number of days.

Students may also attend the Breakfast Club from

Monday to Thursday mornings. Please remember to

send a note along with your child to explain absenc-

es or phone the office. Sometimes the office staff or

other school personal may ring to enquire the where-

abouts of your child during school hours.

Regards

Mrs Tupene

Veggie Gardening Group The Veggie Gardening group this week planted some

Sugar Snap Pea seedlings and stakes for the peas to

climb as they grow. We are also sowing tomato seeds

for a summer crop of Cherry tomatoes.

Message from Your AEO Well what can I say? How wonderful were our jarjums

(children) performance at Mt.Druitt Westfields Shop-

ping Centre for Education week. I would like to thank

our jarjums for giving their all in their dance. I would

like to thank the parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles

and caregivers who gave up time to come and support

them it was amazing to see all our families’ faces in the

crowd.

Wednesday last week we went to Dawson Public

School to see ‘Got Ya Back Midigar (friend)’ puppet

show. The jarjums enjoyed the show and their BBQ

lunch.

I would like to give a big thank you to Karen and Kevin

Treloar for surprising us with the lovely framed pre-

sents of the Aboriginal Flag and a poem constructed by

Emily and Kevin.

Next week will be week 5 of term 3. How fast is this

term going? Please remember if your jarjums are off

sick to send them with a note, doctor’s certificate or

phone the school on 9628 7777 to give a verbal mes-

sage to the office and I will inform the jarjums teacher.

Please remember to be in line on time.

Breakfast Club

Once again we are grateful to our sponsors who con-

tinually supply our school, with a variety of cereals,

wholesome bread, milk, margarine, milo and spreads.

Breakfast Club is run in partnership with the local

community and our school is grateful to those parents,

who have volunteered and those parents who have re-

cently joined us, to serve breakfast Monday to Thurs-

day mornings from 8-30am to 8-50am.

A friendly reminder, if your child is running late or

has forgotten to have breakfast, then they can come

and join the friendly staff in the Chill Out Room.

Parent Back-to-School Day at Noumea

Wednesday 1st August was Parent Back-to-School Day at

Noumea Public School organised by Assistant Principal Ni-

cole Robertson.

Eleven parents had booked

in for the day. They were

treated much the same as

their kids from 9.00am until

3.00pm. Two special lines

had to be made at the morn-

ing assembly where they

greeted the teachers and

sang the school song and

listened quietly to the morn-

ing announcements.

Lessons began with Literacy as with all other classes in our

school. They all learned new skills on the interactive white-

board, skills of course that their children had already

learned. All the better to keep pace with the kids at home.

After recess they were outside to play sport at the volleyball

net. A lot of huffing and puffing and a major break to get a

second wind. This was followed by an art lesson where they

collected leaves from the playground to assist in a gum leaf

composition using their painting skills. Finally some instru-

mental music lesson where they formed the new Noumea

Parent Percussion Players group!!

Some comments from those participating:

“We had an absolute ball!”

“We were the champions at Newcombe Ball!”

“Just really enjoyable”

“One of the greatest experiences ever. This is the first

school I’ve been at that’s had something like this. Every

school should have one!”

Merit certificates were given out at the end of the day for

qualities such as “Marvellous Manners” and for being a

“Good Learner”.

Art Show to be held in the hall and Grandparents,

Godparents and Good Friends Day.

All families and visitors are invited to stay after the

COLES SPORTS FOR SCHOOLS 2012

Coles has launched their 2012 Sports for Schools program and

we are excited to announce that Noumea Public School will be

participating and collecting vouchers for much needed sports

equipment.

Vouchers are available in all Coles stores from 13th

June to 14th August 2012, and we ask that you get

involved to help collect vouchers for our school.

Our target is to collect 15 000 vouchers to provide our school

with much needed, and new, sporting equipment for our classes.

We are appealing to parents and guardians to collect as many

vouchers as you can. By donating and encouraging friends and

family to do the same, you are helping to provide a healthy and

active education for our children.

Please visit coles.com.au/sportsforschools for more information

about the program and you can also browse the sporting gear

available to see what equipment we are aiming for.

A collection box will be located at the front of office so please

feel free to drop the vouchers in the box or give them to your

children to hand into their class teacher.
