REGISTRATION FOR MULTIPLE ATTENDEES: In order to ensure a smooth and accurate registration process, Winston’s Wish Foundation would like to remind our workshop participants that we must have a complete registration form for each attendee. Please download and fill out addition form if you have multiple attendees.

Our Cancellation Policy: Winston’s Wish Foundation will accept cancellations and provide a full refund up to 30 days in advance of each workshop. For cancellations received 15 days prior to the start of the workshop, 50% of the registration fee will be refunded. No refunds will be provided for cancellations received 14 days prior to the start of the workshop. A ‘Cancellation’ is defined as when a registered individual writes or calls and firmly states that they will not be in attendance for the workshop or function for which they are registered. Winston’s Wish Foundation has a No Rain Check policy, however a substitute will be allowed to participate should the original registrant becomes unavailable. In cases of inclement weather, Winston’s Wish Foundation will notify all participants of delayed starts or time adjustments through email. If possible, a notice will also be posted on our website. All participants should be advised that if a presenter can reach the venue, the workshop will begin as scheduled.

The Presenter

Mark L. Sundberg, Ph.D., BCBA-D received his doctorate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University (1980), under the direction of Dr. Jack Michael. Dr. Sundberg serves on the Board of Directors of the B. F. Skinner Foundation. He is the author of the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (the VB-MAPP), and the co-author of The ABLLS; Teaching Language to Children with Autism or Other

Developmental Disabilities; and A Collection of Reprints on Verbal Behavior. He has published over 45 professional papers, including a chapter titled “Verbal Behavior” in

Cooper, Heron, & Heward (2007). He is the founder and past editor of the journal The Analysis of Verbal Behavior, a twice past-president of The Northern California Association for Behavior Analysis, a past-chair of the Publication Board of ABAI, and is a member of the committee that developed the BACB Task List. Dr. Sundberg has given over 500 conference presentations and workshops, and taught 80 college courses on behavior analysis, verbal behavior, sign language, and child development. He is a licensed psychologist in private practice who consults for programs and classrooms that serve children with autism in the San Francisco Bay Area. His awards include the 2001 “Distinguished Psychology Department Alumnus Award” from Western Michigan University.

The Workshop This two-day workshop will cover the basic elements of the verbal behavior approach to language assessment and intervention for children with autism. On the first day the focus will be on how to use a behavioral analysis of language to assess the language skills of a child with autism, as well as his potential barriers to language acquisition. Dr. Sundberg's new assessment tool "The Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP)" will be presented. Participants will then learn how to use the results of the assessment to determine an individual child's immediate intervention priorities. During the second day the focus will be developing an individualized intervention program. Several teaching procedures will be described (e.g., early mand training, vocabulary development, intraverbal development). Additional topics discussed over the course of the workshop will include how to set up a classroom for children with autism, data collection, behavior problems, augmentative communication, inclusion, and peer interaction.
