Elected Member of the Southern Regional Committee from 2013-2017
Elected Member of the Southern Regional Committee from 2017-2021
Served the SRC twice as Chairman, Secretary and CPD convenor.
Presently serving SRC as Honorary Secretary.
Served the Publication Committee, Government Relation and Economic Advisory Committee, and CPD Committee of the Institute for multiple years.
The motivating factor for me to contest these elections is to give back to the profession and the
community, particularly the underprivileged students and to support the membership from my
experience.
In the back drop of recent exponential technological changes and the ever increasing demand of the
profession, there is a need to re-strategize and have a long-term plan in place i.e. “2030 Vision and
Strategy of the Institute”.
Based on my experience with the clients and international networks, I am confident that with the
support from the members and the Council , I can be instrumental in bringing the necessary changes
and can help in reframing the strategy and vision for 2030 of the Institute.
Additionally, the professionals also have to address the constant changes in the laws, rules and
regulations and enhanced compliance requirements, for which continuous and relevant CPD is
essential, where I can play a role.
Re-strategize and Transform the Institute
- 2030- Vision and strategy
Setting up a ICAP Digital Lab
Centre of Excellence for Technical Support
IT and Data Science International Training Courses
Expansion in Professional Services beyond Assurance and Tax
Inculcation of Leadership Qualities in Trainees/Members
Advancement in Curriculum to match Global Standards
Promote Gender Equality
I consider that as members of ICAP, we all should focus on the following areas to explore the true
potential of the profession.
Fast embracement of technological changes, for instance setting up a “Digital Lab” to support the members for technology needs and quick solutions.
Consolidation of SMPs through master framework agreements, facilitation of sharing common technology platform, also having a “Centre of Excellence” for technical support would create an impact.
Promoting gender equality thereby support the increase intake of female CA trainees and imparting focused training in “IT and Data Science” as an encouragement and enhance chances of their employability.
Provide members and students online access to international training courses (already initiated by the present SRC) on continuous basis.
Support annual review of the CA curriculum for regular updates and to maintain pace with Global trends.
Initiate the concept of an “ICAP University” or “Accounting School of Excellence” under a JV or PPP arrangement.
Expansion in professional services beyond Assurance and Tax services. Create awareness and will support related changes in the law for broadening the partnership base.
Inculcate the leadership qualities in trainees/new members by offering world class orientation and motivational sessions.
Repositioning of the Institute to be seen as a strategic partner/advisor to the regulators like FBR, SECP, BOI and SBP along with a balanced view for the businesses and entrepreneurs. ICAP should be a front line leader on all economic and fiscal issues and on matter related to policy setting. Timely issuance of crisp thought leaderships and holding brainstorming/ strategy sessions with the Country leadership and officials would be helpful.
Integration of Overseas members’ network: Creating a common online platform and charter for the overseas members’ helping them to get guidance about their needs of employment, career advancement, settlement related matters, awareness on immigration rules through an online portal. There may be country wise pages for knowledge share and Q&A. This will also help the local members and transform the CA-PK community into a true global network. Regional committees can be mobilized for this task.
Improving ties with other international institutes and worldwide recognition of CA Pakistan. This should be more actively pursued with an objective to create more opportunities for the members and the enhancement of “CA PAKISTAN” brand.
I am confident that with the support of peers and membership at large, the new
council will be able to work on the above as their priority items, as we all have
enough rationale to embrace the change for our future generation.
In the end, I would like to wish all the members of ICAP, success in all their
present and future endeavors with good health.
