Pre-Project Environment
CAT used an Analog Phone PABX based System.
CAT faced very high OPEX for maintaining and for adding new features and phones to
the PABX System and maintaining two networks.

The Challenge
Enable communications on Phones, Mobiles and PCs.
Reduce OPEX for maintenance.
Reduce OPEX when adding phones or features.
Provide seamless communications between branches through the Internet.
![Page 8: 99 2012-ait-case studies-voip-cat](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022081414/548263bf5806b501058b469d/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
SOLUTIONWhat we found to be the
“AIT designed and implemented a new IP telephony system based on Cisco’s Unified Communication System which supported many enhanced features running on the IP network of CAT”
![Page 9: 99 2012-ait-case studies-voip-cat](https://reader036.fdocuments.net/reader036/viewer/2022081414/548263bf5806b501058b469d/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
The Solution
IP Telephony – Changed from the Analog telephone system to an IP based telephone
system which allowed CAT users to connect though the IP network, anytime
and from any place.
The solution provided the same virtual workspace on any device a user logs onto,
either through a LAN or Internet Connection
Using Soft Phones, CAT users could then use many devices, such as Mobile Phones, PC’s and IP Phone as registered endpoints

Return on Investment
Cost saving through easier maintenance
All CAT needs to add new phones when required on the system is an extra license.
Cost saving through greatly reduced hardware volume.
Cost saving through far easier operation – the IP Network Team can operate and
manage this system
