Yes. For all those universities which

have been empowered under 31(5) of

the State Private Universities Act.

(c) whether the competent authority

carried out any inspection before

granting approval of seats; if yes,

inspection teams be given?

No. The competent authority carried out inspection before granting approval of seats only for research programmes of 15 Universities (except Maharishi Markandeshwar & Jay Pee University) during 2017-18 out of 17 Private Universities in the State. The detail showing date wise inspections carried out and the Members of inspection Committee is enclosed at Annexure-A.

However, the inspection being a continuing process, course approval in general other than research programmes are granted in every year with the condition that’ the faculty and physical infrastructure must be in place before the start of academic year for which courses are approved followed by the verification of the Inspection Committee’ . Accordingly the inspections of 14 Universities (except Maharishi Markandeshwar, Jay Pee & Eternal University) were carried out during 2017-18 out of 17 Private Universities in the State. The detail showing date wise inspections carried out and the Members of Inspection committee is enclosed at Annexure-B. Similarly, during the year 2018-19, inspection of 15 universities have been carried out and of remaining 2 universities i.e. Sri Sai and Eternal University are in process, which will be conducted soon.
