NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents,
KIDS IN SPACE
There’s much excitement in the air! Thank you for all your support with our whole school musical. Everyone has been
working exceptionally well to learn their lines, dances and songs. We’re confident that you will enjoy our Rock Musical this year as much you
did our previous musical.
Tickets are selling fast so please don’t delay your purchase from our school Administration Office. Tickets will not be on sale on the night of
the musical.
We’ll be performing at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 11 August with the show starting at 6:30pm. Main cast need to be at the theatre by 5pm and all others need to arrive by 5:30pm so that they can get dressed in their costumes and ready for their big stage
appearance.
CROSS COUNTRY
What stars we have at Golden Bay Primary School! Great running, great enthusiasm, great team spirit! This may be the year of the
Olympics where we get to see great athleticism and sportsmanship but we have truly great champions here at our school. I especially liked
the way that our students cheered for others, supported each other over the finish line and congratulated others for their effort.
Our community support was again exceptional – thank you! It was a pleasure to hear and read the many accolades about our school culture
and the fabulous sporting behaviours on display.
FACTION SHIRTS
Students are looking terrific in their faction shirts! Faction shirts can be worn by all students each Wednesday throughout the year.
SCIENCE
Students were highly engaged in our Science Alive incursion presented by Mick Doyle this week. Mick was a key member of the planning
and implementation team who established the SCITECH DISCOVERY CENTRE here in Western Australia.
This incursion leads on to our National Science week starting the 15 August.
Karina and her team have been planning some awesome science activities for the kids to experience. You can visit the National Science Week website
to discover more exciting events…. http://www.scienceweek.net.au/
NAIDOC
Students heartily engaged with all our planned NAIDOC activities as together we celebrated and embraced our similarities and differences.
NEW STUDENTS AND STAFF
We welcomed many new students and staff to our school for the first time this term. They have fitted in
beautifully and seamlessly with parents expressing their gratitude for the superb work and communication
by staff.
At Golden Bay we believe in developing strong partnerships with parents and love seeing them as they volunteer in and around our school.

School Car Parks
Thanks to all those parents using the
Tangadee Road and Arizona Parade car
parks. For safety reasons I allocated the
car park at the front of the school on
Thundelarra Drive as a ‘Staff Only’ car
park. A number of families cross the car
park drive area at the start and finish of
school.
I respectfully ask that parents not use this
car park unless they have a child with a
disability requiring close parking.

We have a new children’s crossing.
We ask that the Traffic Warden (Hermina) instructions be obeyed.
We ask parents to drive safely and at the stated speed limit between
7:50—8:50am and 2:15—3:15pm.
We ask that students walk to the new crossing location through the centre
walk area of the staff car park (in front of the Administration Building) when
making their way to the crossing.
Staff have taken all children for a tour of the area where children are to
cross in the staff car park and discussed the new crossing with them.
Don’t forget to say ‘hello’ to Hermina.

FACTION CROSS COUNTRY
Our Faction Cross Country was absolutely amazing. We saw all students
competing with all their energy to score points for their faction. Year’s 3, 4, 5 and 6
boys and girls had their own races, with outstanding results.
There were some very close finishes but everyone ran their hardest. We are so proud
of all our cross country runners.
Thank you to the Golden Bay staff for assisting and the families for
supporting and cheering.
Congratulations to those students who won a medal and to those students who will
represent Golden Bay at the Interschool Cross Country next
Wednesday at Singleton Primary School.
The winning faction on the day was MARRI!

IMMUNISATION
It is a requirement by the Education Department to receive all immunisation records
from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) print out. This can be obtained by calling
1800653809.
If your child’s immunisations are not recorded on ACIR it may affect your family payments.
An immunisation provider will assist children not up–to-date or vaccinated overseas to receive
the correct scheduled vaccinations and have their records put on ACIR.
The nurses at the immunisation clinic at Kwinana Community Health 94192266 can also provide this
service.
Please ring and book an appointment.

Dear Parents and Children.
Welcome Back to everyone for what has been an amazing start to Term 3! Our numbers are still climbing and we are
excited to welcome all our new OSHClub members to the program! And our future friends that will be joining!
This term we are focusing on sustainability and community links so if any parents have some time and would like to co-
mein for an afternoon to talk about their job, an organisation they are a part of that we could get involved with or a
special talent or craft they would like to share, we would love you to come in and share these with our OSHClub!
If you have any recyclables lying around the house and collecting dust we can take them off your hands to create a craft
masterpiece!
OSHClub is also happy to announce that as of this term we open our doors at 6.45am instead of 7.00am. We will still be
keeping or 6.00pm finish, just our morning time is changing.
A reminder that enrolling you child or children in OSHCLUB is easy and free. All you need to do is complete an enrolment
form on line at www.OSHCLUB.com.au where you will have the option of booking as either permanent or casual user. I be-
lieve this to be beneficial for all families as once
your child is enrolled you then have the comfort of knowing the program is available to you
anytime should any unforeseen circumstance arise. It also gives you the assurance that your child
or children will be cared for in safe, warm and friendly environment.
Please drop in and say Hello in Teaching Block 4
Opening hours are 6.45am to 9.00am and 2.15pm to 6pm.
We are still updating our records and enrolments so there may be some forms that we need to update and have parents
sign over the next few weeks.
Also our lost property box is still to over flow, so if your child is missing a hat or jacket feel free to pop into Block 4 and
have a look through if your child is missing an item.
RECYCLABLES WANTED
If you have any recyclable items laying around the house that could be used in our construction creating, feel free to drop
them off at block 4. These items can include egg cartons, boxes, bottles, jars, newspaper etc.
USED TOYS, PUZZLES & GAMES WANTED
Also, if you have any old unwanted toys, puzzles or games lying around collecting dust, we would love to take them off your
hands! Anything from board games, large or small puzzles to construction toys and blocks. Even old dress-up or items to
add to our home corner would be great!
