The Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) and Educational Initiatives (EI)identifies the finest scholastic talents among 7th and 8th grade students in Mathematics, Science and English subjects, through its 'Duke TIP ASSET Talent Search Program. 37 students from our school qualified the 1st round and 10 students have qualified for the next level.
The CBSE circular dated 30th June 2014 no. ACAD-19/2014, urged schools to promote the teaching and learning of Sanskrit- the mother of all languages. The school conducted Sanskrit related activities in July-August 2014 as a part of Sanskrit week celebration.During this week the students engaged themselves in the following activities.• Class VI, VII, VIII prepared Sanskrit word collection on different topics.• Class VI prepared Sanskrit games on different topics.• Class VIII recited Sanskrit shlokas. • The students of classes IX , X and XI also performed the following activities:
Laghubhashanam (short speech) Developing games for Sanskrit learning Essay writing competition Sanskrit Shloka Antakshari
• Class IX and X did a research on establishing links/ genesis of other Indian and international languages with the Sanskrit language.
• The students from IX and X enacted a Sanskrit play named 'Apsar Mahima'.• 'Character dramatization' was done by students of classes VII and VIII.• Ms. Rachna Garg, Ms. Geeta Mendiratta and Ms. Garima Johri also prepared research work on the
topic "Science in Sanskrit”.
CELEBRATING SANSKRIT WEEK
To launch Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidhyalay Abhiyaan in the school various activities ware designed for classes 6th to 10th for the month of October. The first activity was conducted on 1st October in which two short films along with a power point presentation on cleanliness were shown in all the sections of 6th and 7th. The students also took a pledge to become active participants of this abhiyaan and to take care of the cleanliness of their school and surroundings.- their contribution to the cleanliness program launched by hon'ble PM Mr.Narendra Modi on 2nd October.

GURU UTSAVThe Ministry of Human Resource Development , Govt.of India along with C.B.S.E. announced an Essay Writing Competition and invited entries from the students to share inspiring stories about their teachers who have played a pivotal role in shaping and moulding their lives. 30 students of classes V To XII participated in the Gurutsav Essay Writing Competition on 29th August 2014.
Celebration of ExcellenceCBSE organised ‘Celebration of Excellence’ from 13th to 15th August, 2014 for the students who have excelled in academics, sports and other activities. The programme included address by the Hon’ble Human Resource Minister and other eminent dignitaries, local sight seeing and participation in the Independence Day Celebrations at Red Fort on the 15th August. During the programme, the students also prepared an e-book ‘Hamari Dharohar, Hamara Sapna’.
Vinayak Parihar of class X was selected as he hadset a new record in 200 M Butterfly StrokeBoys Under 16 Years Category.

ACHIEVEMENTS
The Awakened Citizen Programme for imparting Value Education initiated by CBSE along with the Rama Krishna Mission has been implemented in Class VII in the school. Our school is a part of the Value Education Pilot programme launched by the Mission. Ms. Kavita Dhar, Ms. Anupama Bhandari, Ms. Rachna Garg and Ms. Shilpi attended the three days’ Teachers’ Orientation Programme conducted at the Rama Krishna Ashram. All the class teachers of class VII were trained for conducting these sessions in their respective classes.

The Annual Swami Vivekananda Competition – 2014
The Annual Vivekanand Competition was organised by Ramakrishna Mission on 31st July 2014 for classes VI to XII. About 85,000 students from 160 schools took part in the first round of the competition. Four students from our school have been selected for the second round of the Annual Swami Vivekananda Competition – 2014.
CBSE in collaboration with Trinity college, London organized an intensive 5 day ASL Master Trainer’s workshop from 21st July to 25th July 2014 under the CBSE’s prestigious project on the Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills. Out of the Examiner Trainers (ET’S) from Delhi, NCR, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Bangalore and Rajasthan region who were trained at the first level, 59 teachers were selected on merit for the second level i.e to be the ASL Master Trainers. Ms. Rashika Singh and Ms. Bineeta Fialok represented BBPS, Pitampura for this training.

Delhi school children discovered 2 unknown asteroids to be placed in the International Astronomical Union.Akshat Sharma and Kshitij Jindal of class XI discovered an asteroid temporarily named as 2014 OU6 during the All India Asteroid Search Campaign. The search is conducted globally by the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), and in India by SPACE. There were about 75 teams registered from around the country.

OUR PTA TEAM…We thank the members of the outgoing PTA Executive body who have been our active co-partners for the last 4 years (2010-2014). Their contribution and cooperation have helped us to keep giving our best to every child in the school. The new PTA was constituted and welcomed at the meeting held on 2nd August 2014. We welcome the members of the newly elected PTA body and we look forward to a pleasant journey ahead with the shared goal of taking the school to greater heights.

• Our students attended the Global round at Singapore from 24th -27th June,2014. Tishya Mahajan won the School top scorer's medal.
• Dhruv Valeja of class XII has been selected for the KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana )fellowship Award – 2013 – effective from 1st August 2014 for students enrolled in class XII in science subjects. The fellowship is conferred by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.

As a part of the drive “SAVE and EARN” the students of classes IX, X, XI and XII have been encouraged to open a Savings Account at the Bank of Baroda, Parwana Road.
Financial Literacy Manuals were distributed to the students of IX and X.
FINANCIAL LITERACY BOON
To make the students understand the value of forgiveness, an inter class activity was conducted in classes XI and XII on 15th July, 2014 and 18th July 2014 respectively. The activity ‘The Moment of Calm’ involved board making where each class had to make a tree of forgiveness and hang forgiveness messages in the form of leaves on it. It was a unique experience for the students to participate in the activity which also enhanced their life-skills.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Independence Day was celebrated on 14th August, 2014. The programme began with the March Past by the primary and senior students followed by a captivating cultural show. The show started with lamp-lighting by the chief guest Mr. Vinod Kumar Meena, Chief Judicial Magistrate. The song presented by the students and the orchestra rang with the spirit of India’s Independence. The Montessori students presented a dance drama that celebrated unity in diversity. The determination of Indians was honored in the group songs presented by the senior, middle and the primary departments. The senior dance sequence, ‘Jazba’, was a fusion of western and classical dance. Meritorious students were awarded for the outstanding performances in academics and co-curricular achievement. The Chief Guest addressed the students and inspired them to work towards building a better nation. The programme was concluded with the singing of the National Anthem by all.
INDEPENDENCE DAY
Teachers’ Day was celebrated with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm on 5th September. The day provided an opportunity for class XII students to shoulder the responsibility by taking over as teachers. The staff enjoyed a POT lunch. On 6th sept, a cultural extravaganza was presented by the teachers . It was a fun filled programme . The cultural programme was followed by a brunch and a movie(Mary Kom). It was a wonderful day for all the teachers.

MIME Workshop
Theatre workshop is conducted by ‘Alanar’ for class VIII every Thursday. The workshop is interactive, participatory and encourages students to explore, learn and develop their own capacity in theatre leading to overall communication and presentation skills.
Bahar Dutt (Environmental Journalist) CNN-IBN interacted with the students of class XI on 1st August 2014. She showed her documentary movie “Saras Cranes” which won the Oscar Award. The whole group was involved in creative activities and presented skits/plays.

A training programme for peer assessors was organised at the National Science Centre, Pragati Maidan on 6th August 2014. 12 students of classes 9 to 11 accompanied by Ms. Lakshmi Narasimhan attended the programme. The participants were told about what is communication, types of communication and various communication strategies. Differences between passive, aggressive and assertive communication was made clear through role plays by the participants .
TRAINING PROGRAM FOR PEER ASSESSORS “COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES”
SHO , Mr. Ashok Kumar addressed the students of classes XI and XII on 11th July 2014 on personal safety and social responsibility. He also explained the role of the police in ensuring the safety of one and all. This interactive workshop emphasized the importance of being a law abiding citizen.
WORKSHOP ON PERSONAL SAFETY
A workshop on ‘Cyber Security’ was conducted for the students of classes IX and X in the school auditorium on 31st July 2014. Mr. S.D. Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police was invited to address the students. The aim of this two hour workshop was to apprise the students of safe surfing habits, cyber-safety threats and the problems they could lead to. The interactive session also elaborated upon the measures that one could take to protect their personal information and computer from attacks. Discussions upon cyber-crimes and related case histories enlightened the students about the consequences of indulging in or becoming prey to such offences.

Pankaj , Mr. Anil, Ms. Rashika and Ms. Shiva visited the Moon Beverages Ltd. Coca-Cola Factory on 17th July 2014. The plant is equipped with state of the art equipment and also manufactures P.E.T. bottles.
Students from class XII visited the Pearl Academy at Delhi on 18th July 2014 along with Ms. Sujata for a workshop on art, design and fashion as a career choice.
The teachers visited the Delhi Book Fair at the Pragati Maidan on 24th August 2014.

INDIA SECURITY EXPO 2014 was held at Pragati Maidan from 25th to 28th September 2014. The entire range of safety and security products were displayed. Ms Sonia Chabbra, Head Mistress Primary department visited the fair. The products like Student tracking system, Time attendance solutions , Intelligent CCTV & barrier were found to be very useful.

127 students of class IV went to Solan from 18th to 27th September,2014.
OUTSTATION TRIPSA group of 54 students of classes III to V with 5 teachers went to an educational trip to Jaipur – Chokhi Dhani from 6th September 2014 to 8th September 2014. The students got the chance to see hand printing, block printing and blue pottery in Sanganer. Famous monuments like City Palace, Jal Mahal , Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar were also visited by the group.
INTERNATIONAL TRIPS13 students along with two teachers Ms. Deepika Kwatra and Ms.Navneet Malhotra went for a cultural exchange trip to Beijing, China from 17th July to 23rd July’14. The group interacted with the students of Fengtai Art palace School and learnt to make Chinese masks and their art of writing. The students and the teachers had an opportunity to visit the Forbidden city, The Great wall of China and other places of interest.
Ms. Upasana Dembla and Ms. Rachna Jain visited the Pevencey and Westham School (U.K) from 23rd September 2014 to 30th September 2014 under the Global School Connecting Classroom Programme sponsored by the British Council.

ISA ACTIVITIES –VIDEO CONFERENCES
Jahnvi Gupta of class XII was selected for the prestigious JENESYS program sponsored by the CBSE under the aegis of the Ministry of HRD. She was selected in the ‘Lawn Tennis’ category. She is scheduled to leave for Japan on 8th December 2014. The program will include home stay with a Japanese family.

• 4 students and one teacher Ms. Kate Murry from The Hollins Technology College, UK visited the school on 7th July 2014. They participated in a friendly basketball match and interacted with their Indian counterparts.

• The students of class 5 participated in an exchange of art work with Aspuddens Skola Sweden. The Swedish students sent in their sketches and write-ups on wild animals.
• Class 6 students participated in the project – ‘A Day in the Life of an Indian/ Australian student’. Common worksheets on the theme were done by the students of Austin’s Ferry Primary School and Bal Bharati Pitampura.
Ms. Sarabjit Kaur attended a three day Leadership Development workshop organised by the British Council from 27th to 29th August 2014. The workshop intended for ISA Coordinators was a platform to discuss school cultures, leadership styles and best practices.

A Peace March was conducted by the students of Primary Department on 29th September, wherein the students carried a message of peace to the neighbouring schools. They met the Principals of these schools and presented them with a Peace Badge and recited a poem on peace for them. They had an interaction with the teachers of these schools about why peace is imperative in today’s times. The students brought back messages of peace from these schools. The schools also promised to be a part of the signature campaign to spread peace around the world.

Literacy day was celebrated in the Montessori Dept. on 29/08/2014. Few students from Mont II visited the NGO Matrachaya. They recited songs and rhymes for them and had lunch with them. The students of class I wrote messages on bookmarks. The students of class II made Educational aids for the less privileged children.
13 pieces of Art Work for “National Level Painting Competition” were sent to the Experience Japan Educational Trust. The competition is supported by Japan Foundation.

The students of computer club attended a workshop conducted by Mindbox on 19th July, 2014. The workshop was aimed at developing and expanding the creative and life skills of students. The students were motivated to be creative and develop games with Unity and were also informed about choosing gaming as a career option. The students were also given a chance to understand and play games created by students of other schools.
“EXPLORING THE UNKNOWN DIGITAL WORLD”: The students of Pinnacle Club conducted a workshop in 4 sections of class 6 on 28thAugust 2014. The workshop was an initiative to develop peer learning and spread awareness about cyber security.

The students of Gardening Club have taken an initiative to develop a cactus garden in the school premises. They learned how to propagate and grow various types of cacti. The gardener guided them on the uses of different kinds of tools.

Bal Bharati Public School organised an orientation programme cum Film Making Workshop for Green Cities, Earth Reel 2014 Programme in association with Centre for Environmental Education, Govt. of India on 2nd September 2014 in the school auditorium. 70 students from different schools participated in the event. Ms. Prarthana Borah, Senior Programme Coordinator, CEE took the session along with the technical team. They gave a training session on the software Windows Movie Maker 5. The students asked queries related to film making and video editing. Various short movies related to the environmental issues were also shown to the students.

Project You Turn is an environmental initiative undertaken by the students of SRCC(Sri Ram College Of Commerce). It involves collection and recycling of waste Aluminium foil from schools and supplying it to the recyclers. It ensures efficient waste management and cost saving. The Aluminium foil recycler associated with this project produces an Aluminium foil named TAAZA.
Our school was appreciated for contributing the second highest quantity of foil for the months of July and August (5.79 Kgs).

An Endeavour towards Social Sensitivity……………A group of 31 students from class XI along with two teachers visited ‘Earth Saviors’- an NGO working for the rehabilitation of poor and destitute and ‘Shanti Avedana’- a hospice for the cancer destitute, on 2nd August, 2014. The group came back determined to do more for the less privileged .

The Interact Club of Modern School organized a symposium ARISE on the theme- ‘Value of participation in Elections’ on August 2nd, 2014. The students of Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura participated in the Poster making competition, Video Presentation and in the One Act Play Competition.
As a part of the ongoing project on social connect, students of class XI - XII visited the Bal Sahyog Orphanage on 9th August, 2014. They shared breakfast with the children of the orphanage, who in turn showed various magic tricks
and showcased their gymnastic skills.
The Interact Club B.B.P.S.,Pitampura donated text books to Sai Pramodini, an NGO dedicated to educating street children. The underprivileged students were delighted to receive the new books.

Ms. Tishya Mahajan was sworn in as the ZIR {Zonal Interact Representative} on the 26th of September in Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai.
The students and Staff of the school, donated generously for the Flood Relief programme of Jammu & Kashmir. Clothes, pulses, rugs, dry provision and medicines were collected enthusiastically. All the relief material has been despatched to Kashmir.

SAM workshops in collaboration with Interact Club filmed a documentary on Kargil War Heroes and for the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces. The students of Class XII, gave messages for the Kargil War Heroes. They also expressed their appreciation for the sacrifices made by the brave Indian soldiers. This documentary was screened at the Select City Walk, Saket on Vijay Diwas, 26th July 2014.
A motivational workshop was organized by the Interact Club for the students of Class 9- 12 on the 30th July 2014. Mr. Vivek Bindra founder of the Global Act was the speaker. He stressed on the importance of hard work and a focused attitude.

The students of Aryabhatta club made interesting puzzle games using Polyminoes. They were encouraged to relate Pascal’s Triangle to Binomial expansion. They had interactive sessions in which they solved mental ability problems. They created their own logical Jumping Maze ( kind of a game ).Students enjoyed themselves while doing creative things. They were also given a chance to create Fractal cards.

ISS EarthKAM: Sally Ride EarthKAM (Earth Knowledge Acquired by Middle school students) is a NASA sponsored educational project enabling students, teachers, and the public to learn about and to photograph Earth from the unique perspective of space. A workshop for the ISS EarthKAM was conducted for 75 students from 15th to 17th July 2014. The students got to know about this event and its origin through the presentation shown to them.

The students of Class – V of the Primary Department organized a World Parliament Session on Combating Climate Changes on 19th July , 2014 . The students represented the delegates of different countries and discussed and sensitized the audience about the ill-effects of the changes taking place in our climate due to global warming. The students very effectively and convincingly discussed the causes as well as the measures required to control the impact of global warming by bringing forth the problems and challenges being faced by many under-developed, developing as well as developed countries like Philippines, Sudan, Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, Malawi and Canada. The students created awareness about the impact of global warming on various sectors such as water resources, agriculture, forestry, coastal zones, energy industry and above all human health.

AUTHOR’S WORKSHOP
An enjoyable Author’s workshop was conducted on 28 July, 2014 by the renowned children’s author, Anushka Ravishankar for the students of class V. The session began with on ice- breaking conversation session on reading as a good habit for everyone. It was followed by a story narration session conducted by the author herself. The narration was gripping and enthralling for the young listeners. In the end, students drew a sketch of their imaginary monster and the best looking monster would be awarded an autographed copy of the book ‘Moin and the Monster’.

‘Master Chef - Cooking without Fire’ Competition was held in the Primary department on 7th July 2014.
PRIMARYA workshop on dental health was organized for the students of classes III to V on 22nd September, 2014 in the school auditorium. A team of eminent dentists, comprising of Dr. Natasha Madan and Dr. Neeraj Madan conducted the workshop. The workshop was very informative and beneficial for the students. The basic everyday dental care steps were explained in a simple manner, supplemented by a very effective and entertaining powerpoint presentation which made the learning experience absolutely fulfilled. The catchy tunes which the students could sing along reinforced dental care . The workshop succeeded in achieving its purpose as the children enthusiastically talked about these routine habits to each other and promised to follow these all through their lives.
PRIMARYFlavors of India-an exhibition of different cuisines of India was put by the students and EVS teachers of class III on 30th Sepetember in the premises of the Auditorium building.All the 8 sections showcased a particular state of India with an emphasis on food,costumes,vegetation and climate.The students dressed up in the regional costumes highlighted the exotic dishes against the backdrop of charts and slogans of healthy food habits.Soon the ground floor of the auditorium was engulfed in the aroma of Dal Baati Churma from Rajasthan , Lilte Chokha from Bihar, Dhokla from Gujarat, PavBhaji from Maharastra, Makki Di Roti & Sarso da Saag from Punjab, Dum Aloosevian from Kashmir, Momos from Assam, Sambhar,Idli,Vada from Kerala.

The Color Week was organized from 30th July to 5th August 2014 for the students of Montessori-I. The various activities conducted were coloring and printing with different colors, cut outs of different objects in different colors were displayed in the corridor. The children dressed themselves in different colour dresses according to the planned schedule. They also made a collage of the things of that particular colour.

Hindi Divas was celebrated on 12th September 2014 by the students of class II and the students emphasized on the usage of Hindi language. Poems, slogans, songs and dance were part of the assembly. A small riddle quiz was also conducted to conclude the assembly.

A Sensorial Garden has been created in the Montessori Department. It is equipped with sound boxes, sandpit area, games like snakes and ladders, hoopla rings etc.

The cultural show of Mont II was organised on 20th September 2014 in the school auditorium. Dr. Asha Singh, Associate Professor Department of Human Development and Childhood studies, University of Delhi was the chief guest of the show. A hindi story Tenaliraman was showcased followed by dramatization of Rhymes on circus and jungle fun. Ho-Ho chunks ( a tribal dance) , Goan dance and Japanese fiesta were presented by the students. They also presented a fashion show – Rendezvous with a twist.
