Soil water tensionreadings above the moisture setting canactivate an irrigation valve solenoid, time clockor warning device. A switch mechanism (AC orDC) is mounted on the gauge and rotated todesired setting. Option “E” – Electronic Gauge – is uniquein that it can record soil tension

readings automatically and can also be readmanually. The analog magnetic degree sensorprovides a voltage output directly proportional tothe reading shown on the gauge. This signal canbe read by most types of data-logging equipment.The gauge reads the soil water tension in centibars(cb) and kilopascals (kPa).

Option “RSU” – Remote Sensing Unit – is designed toshow soil moisture levels by converting the readingto a 4-20 mA loop current signal. Built-in pressuretransducer improves accuracy. All electronics aresealed in a potted, waterproof housing with externalvent connection. Signal can be read by a datalogging device or an A/D card designed to readvoltage. (Requires 12-24 VDC excitation current.)

Hermetically Sealed – (7 Series)Hermetically sealed pressure gauges are watertight, dust proof, shock resistant, have a 2 in.(51 mm) shatterproof face, and are bottomconnected with 1/4 in. brass standard pipe threadstem (NPT). Dual scale of P.S.I. and kPa.

OUTPUT OPTIONS:

Switching Gauge – is a pressure gauge withdirect switching capabilities. Adjustable pressureselector may be set to any desired pressure. Theswitch will be closed past the setting to actuateconnected device. Switch available for AC or DCpower and also in reverse switch action (openpast the setting). Switching position selectedshould fall in the center 1/3 of the gauge range.

Electronic Gauge – is a unique pressure gaugein that it can be manually read as well asautomatically record pressure readings. It is ananalog magnetic degree sensor that provides avoltage output directly proportional to the readingshowing on the gauge. This signal can be read bymost brands and types of data-logging equipment.

Liquid Filled – (7LF Series)Glycerin filled pressure gauges feature stainlesssteel case with a durable polycarbonate 2-1/2 in.(63 mm) face, and are bottom connected with 1/4 in.brass standard pipe thread stem (NPT). Dual scaleof P.S.I. and kPa.

For severe service conditions with pulsation and vibration.

Snubber – Factory installed Snubber improvesgauge life by absorbing surges. Snubber isthreaded for removal and cleaning if gaugebecomes plugged with debris.

The DS-50CC Extraction Syringe is used primarily to extract soil solution from SSAT Tube and can also be used to create a partial vacuum

on shorter tubes [12 in. (30 cm) or less]. For SSAT Tubeslonger than 12 in. (30 cm), the SSAT Vacuum Pump(CAT. NO. 1002-SSAT) is required to create asufficient vacuum. Spanish instructions availablespecify 1002-SSAT-SP.

This system allows independent moisturecontrol of valve groups when all valves share acommon ground. The MHS (MultipleHydrozone System) interfaces with any 24 VACirrigation controller for soil moisture automation.Valves are grouped together into hydrozonesbased on that location’s specific irrigationneeds. As many as 8 independent moisturesensing locations can be managed. Eachhydrozone will interrupt the irrigation cyclebased on plant’s demand for that location.
