Preface

The BaseN Platform is a proprietary, high

performance distributed computing

environment, comparable to Google and

Facebook backends. It provides fully scalable

data collection, computing and client

presentations for massive data flows in a

multitude of industries.

The Platform is currently powered by more

than 1500 CPU's, and the amount is readily

expandable to millions.

In this millennium, state of the art, scalable

computing power is a prerequisite for any

large scale service delivery over IP networks.

BaseN has developed its system for telecom

networks and has successfully applied the

same technology to clean tech space.

We can immediately make real time data

available to millions of consumers in cost

effective way.

The BaseN Platform is measuring an

equivalent of more than 10 Smart Meters

every minute and making the data available

in real time.

BaseN is to be the foundation for the Smart

Grid by connecting every point of energy

consumption in real time.

The Sustainable Urban Living

concept developed by Skanska,

Fortum and ABB, is aimed at

urban living, where the net energy

consumption of houses is minimal,

or non-existent.


• BaseN provides as a partner of Fortum, a real time

monitoring system for electricity, water and heating energy,

which supports the comprehensive delivery of brand new

Smart Grid solutions to consumers.

• The new technology connected to smart grids offers even

better possibilities for the follow-up and intensification of

the residents’ own energy consumption, and at the same

time, for reducing their carbon footprint.

• The apartment building itself produces

energy.

• An extensive solar energy system on

the roof is connected to BaseN Platform.

• The solar panels produce approximately

15 000 kilowatt hours of electricity per

annum

• Amount equivalent to about 30 percent

of total electricity consumption in the

building, excl. each apartments.

• The electricity produced by the solar

panels is used for instance for

charging an electric car, which are in

shared use of the building’s residents,

and for lighting the building’s stairwell.

• BaseN's system monitora and reports

on user-specific charging and energy

consumption of the electric cars.

Monitoring electric cars


• Each room in the building is part of a

comprehensive energy metering and

monitoring system provided by BaseN.

• The residents can use the Internet to

follow up on the real-time electricity, heat

and water consumption of their apartment,

as well as being able to see the concrete

impact of the change in their energy

consumption habits, and energy bill.
