A leukemia-associated virus immunogens, vac- cines, antibody combining sites and assays. The immunogens are relatively short polypeptides with peptide sequences corresponding to the antigenic determinant domains of a leukemia- associated virus envelope protein. The immuno- gens when introduced into a host stimulate the production of antibodies which immunoreact with the polypeptides and the leukemia- associated virus.

To minimize the number of independent masking operations in the manufacture of a CMOS integrated circuit device using twin tub technology, the n-tub is made by separate phosphorus and arsenic implants through a mask (13-16) and the p-tub is made by two separate boron implants through a mask (13A, B) derived from that used for forming the n-tub. One of the boron implants occurs before, the other after, a drive-in heating step. After tub for- mation, further movement of the implanted ions is kept small by use of a high pressure process for growing the field oxide and by only limited fur- ther heating. Transistors are then formed in the tubs.

Liposomes containing phosphatidylethanolamine, palmitoyl homo- cysteine or oleic acid or palmitic acid, fuse rapidly when the pH of the medium is reduced below 7. Liposome fusion was measured by (a) mixing of the iiposomal lipids as shown by resonance energy transfer, (b) gel filtration and (c) electron microscopy. The presence of phosphatidylethanolamine or acid addition esters thereof in the liposomes greatly enhances fusion; whereas the presence of phosphatidyl- choline inhibits fusion. During fusion of liposomes containing phosphatidylethanolamine: palmitoyl homo- cysteine (8:2), almost all of the encapsulated cal- cein is released. Inclusion ofcholesterol (40~o) in the liposomes substantially decreases leakage without impairing fusion. Those pH sensitive liposomes are fused to deliver biologically active molecules such as DNA, into living cells.

A composition of matter useful as an oral dosage form of insulin based upon a two phase liquid aqueous system in which insulin component or components are incorporated. The invention also provides for a method of preparing the oral dosage form of insulin, as well as a further pro- cess whereby sustained release dosage forms of oral insulin are produced. The oral form of in- sulin eliminates or reduces the need to use injection as a mode of administering insulin.
