Confession and ForgivenessIn the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit.Amen. Matthew 28:19; [18:20]Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid:cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.Amen.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1: 8-9

Silence is kept for reflection. Most merciful God,we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.

In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins.I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit.Amen.

Apostolic GreetingThe grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.And also with you.

Prayer of the Day The Lord be with you.And also with you.Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written forour learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and everhold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you havegiven us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns withyou and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.Amen.

+Word+READING Acts 2.38-47And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” 40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

READING 2 Corinthians 9.6-15The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 9 As it is written,“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God. 13 By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others, 14 while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you. 15 Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

Here ends the readingThanks be to God.

The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the 6th chapter.

Holy Gospel Matthew 6.19-24“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

The Gospel of our Lord.

Anthem Take My Life arr. Kurt Kaiser Chancel Choir

Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love,

At the impulse of Thy love.

Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee.Take my voice and let me sing always, only, for my King.

Always, only, for my King.

Take my will and make it Thine; it shall be no longer mine.Take my heart; it is Thine own. It shall be Thy royal throne.

It shall be Thy royal throne.

Offertory Allegretto from Sonata IV Felix Mendelssohn

The Lord’s Supper is the family meal for Christians. If you are a Baptized Christian, seeking a church home, a member of a congregation that proclaims the Gospel, and a disciple of Christ who desires to be forgiven and strengthened to live more faithfully for Christ, you are welcome to commune with us (Children, ages 2nd grade and above who are Baptized and who have received First

Communion Instruction, are welcome to come commune with their family). If you are not a Christian, or if you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to come forward for a personal blessing (indicate this by crossing your arms) or you can spend this time in prayer. Our hope is that this time is helpful to you as you consider

your relationship with Jesus Christ and with His people, the church.

The Great ThanksgivingThe Lord be with you. 2 Tim. 4:22And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. Colossians 3:1We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. Ps. 136It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is indeed right and salutary that we should at all times and in all places offer thanks and praise to you, O Lord, holy Father, through Christ our Lord; who on this day overcame death and the grave, and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so, with the church on earth and the hosts of heaven we praise your name and join them in saying:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and might:Heav’n and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

The Lord’s Prayer Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, Forever and ever. Amen

Communion At Red Hill, we come forward to the altar (front area) to receive Communion through the practice of Intinction.* You will be given

the bread and then dip the bread into the cup of wine to receive the body and blood of Christ. If you cannot receive wine, non-alcoholic, white grape juice is available from one of the acolytes.

* If you are unable to come forward to receive Communion, please notify an usher and the servers will come to your seat.

Prayers for Those Not Taking the Lord’s Supper If you are not able to partake in the Lord’s Supper today, please use this time to meditate on one of the following prayers.

Prayer for Those Searching for Truth: “Jesus, you say you are the way, the truth, and the life. I ask you to give me the power to follow you as I learn more about you and your love for me. Please guide me, teach me, and open me to the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life you promise. Amen.”

+Prayer of Belief: “Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever dared admit, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt on the cross, taking what I deserved in order to offer me complete forgiveness. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Amen.”+If you are saying this prayer for the first time today, please let one of the Pastors know.
