Rotary Club of Magill Sunrise Page | 1 This is a late Bulletin due to Anzac Day and the Editor and his staff being away until today. Last Tuesday club member Shirley Roberts spoke to us of the amazing work being done over at Port Lincoln where she and hubby Kevin have been coordinating an effort to get families lives back together after the devastating bushfires in 2102 by rebuilding their fence lines. She told us that so far 48 volunteers from 10 clubs have given their time and effort to construct 13 km of fences for 7 families. The conditions are quite rough and the work has been hard as the ground they are digging through is mainly granite and limestone but the generosity of locals has helped in the donating of 2 vehicles and hole diggers with special bits to get through this ground. In true Rotary fashion a Rotary Club from Broken Hill South had volunteered to build a shelter at the Mikara Picnic Grounds with materials donated by the Port Lincoln Rotary Club.

This is a late Bulletin due to Anzac Day and the Editor and his staff being away until today. Last Tuesday club

member Shirley Roberts spoke to us of the amazing work being done over at Port Lincoln where she and

hubby Kevin have been coordinating an effort to get families lives back together after the devastating

bushfires in 2102 by rebuilding their fence lines. She told us that so far 48 volunteers from 10 clubs have

given their time and effort to construct 13 km of fences for 7 families. The conditions are quite rough and

the work has been hard as the ground they are digging through is mainly granite and limestone but the

generosity of locals has helped in the donating of 2 vehicles and hole diggers with special bits to get through

this ground. In true Rotary fashion a Rotary Club from Broken Hill South had volunteered to build a shelter

at the Mikara Picnic Grounds with materials donated by the Port Lincoln Rotary Club.

We heard that other than the monies donated by clubs in the Districts 9500 and 9520 Kevin has had to go

out and raise funds to keep the project running and has raised over $5000 from local businesses over there,

an amazing effort.

Shirley explained that their accommodation has been donated free of charge at the Lions Hostel in North

Sheilds by the Lions Club of Port Lincoln. It is quite comfortable, although it sometimes has to be shared

with other parties including school children.

We have Shirley and Kevin with us for the next 5 weeks then they head back to Port Lincoln to complete the

project over a final 2 week period. They are looking for anyone interested in helping out so if you have some

time off coming up and are interested in contributing to this incredible project please let them know. Shirley

and Kevin are both doing incredible work again over on the Eyre Peninsula showing how Rotary gets out

into the community to help those less fortunate, a fantastic effort from some amazing people.

A reminder to you all to get out to your allocated club over the next 2-3 weeks to promote our Reel Event

Movie Night coming up next month. It promises to be a bigger and better event than last year’s inaugural

show so we all need to get out and let the Rotary world know it is on and hopefully sell a few tickets. Well

done to Pamela, Kirsty and Mina in getting the packs ready for us to go out and do this!!

Remember this is a club event that requires everyone’s efforts to make a success.

See you tomorrow morning to hear Tiana and Krystyna speak about their Rypen experiences.

The District Conference last weekend was amazing experience with some wonderful

key speakers and fellowship. Sue and Paul looked very tidy at the beginning of

Saturday Night’s Dinner with its Roaring Twenties Theme.

No greater love hath man than to lay down his bicycle,

break his wrist and pass on his Roaring Twenties outfit to another.

Mari T came prepared with her Roaring Twenties look, but Mark who was attired in

his 21st

Century lounge suit, had no shame in stripping Lindsay’s still warm body to

capture the mood of the evening. I suspect there will be a big fine for Thommo at

tomorrow’s meeting for this.

Thought for the Day 1: You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

Thought for the Day 2: I cook with wine; sometimes I even add it to the food.
