Concept Scheme - Comparisons
Scheme B1 NarrativeSeeks to repurpose the existing building as the New City Hall and Sheriff Substation with a complete rehabilitation of the existing building and approximately 2,000 added square feet of new building. This combination updates the building and provides parking from Main St for city functions and Sheriff Vehicle parking in the lower level at Park level. The layout utilizes the existing large bay height and column spacing to create openness and transparency through the space putting government on display. This approach requires new accommodations for the Fire Station elsewhere, but may also provide the least disruption to Fire Service functions with a move from this station to a new prepared station. See Concept Scheme C.
Scheme B2 NarrativeCombines a New City Hall and Sheriff Substation Facility as new ground up construction on the existing Fire Station site generally aligning with other buildings on Main St extending the Streetscape environment. This concept also emphasizes new parking and includes a multi‐level parking platform structure taking advantage of the site topography providing for a site total of about 110 total parking spaces. This approach requires new accommodations for the Fire Station elsewhere, like Scheme B1. The planning layout of this concept also allows for the integration of the City functions and Sheriff to share in the prominence and access from Main St. Like the Concept “A” approach this scheme also includes a Lobby Tower component that provides connectivity and accessibility from Main St to the Park level with toilet facilities available.
