August 10th 2015 COMMUNITY FREE CHURCH WEEKLY As I was sitting in my office late April I was praying for the nursery project and I was struck by a particular vision and scripture. As I closed my eyes I saw young children being prayed over and the bible being read to them. I heard the gospel being shared, and at that moment I heard Acts 11:26, “For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.” My prayer out of that moment is that by seeking the Lord we would establish a “Little Antioch”, a safe and inviting place where children can hear the gospel, and grow as disciples who know and trust Jesus. I see “Little Antioch” as a special place that when they look back they will know that it was there that they first heard the gospel, and because of that they are now called Christians. Excited? I certainly am, but as with anything I have to make sure my excitement doesn’t exceed my obedience because none of this is possible without prayer. Prayer delights Him and unites us. Please consider stopping by the church and pray - fill out a prayer card - and put it on the wall where construction will begin to happen! Join Us This Sunday! Psalm 127:1 God this is your project and place - fill it with Your Glory! Mini Conference Event Date: August 11, 2015 Time: 6:30 - 8:30pm Cost: There is a cost of $8 per person that will be covered by CEFCM for volunteers of the 2015/16 AWANA program. Location: Held at Bible Baptist Church in Champaign, August 11th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. If you are interested in attending this conference, please let Jan Piasecki know by August 9th. PRAY FOR GOD’S WORK IN OUR MIDST This Sunday, Gerry and Donna will be leading worship together at CEFCM. We do not know if this is the last time before they move, but I hope that each and everyone of you can join us as they share their special gifts of worship. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. Romans 7:24-25Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!Romans 10:1313 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. There is a decision that eclipses all other decisions you will ever make. Will you follow the world or follow God? But I dont know, I dont want to make a decision. Please hear me friends, everyone must at some point must make a decision. You can choose to not live by faith but you cannot choose to evade the consequences for your choice. The bible says that there is a day scheduled (Isaiah 34:8, Acts 1:7) that God will judge the righteous and wicked (Ecclesiastes 3:17). On the great and nal day God will judge the world. In Isaiah 34:6 the sword will descend from heaven, and there will be a nal sacrice. Some one will be sacriced for your sin. Will it be you or Christ who willingly offered Himself up as our substitute?I know that judgement is oftentimes uncomfortable to talk about, even though we ourselves make dozens of judgements each day. We struggle with the idea of being judged in our own lives, but what about Gods judgement? A place where we really can tend to really struggle. Maybe you came through a religious system that told you God was out to get you and lived beneath a scoreboard of guilt and shame. That is a lie and caricature of the Gospel. The good news is that no one is good enough: None is righteous no not one (Romans 3:10) None - Except Jesus. God Himself says of judgement:Ezekiel 33:11Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. This echoes 2 Peter 3:9.What is most terrifying and frightening about Isaiah 34is the very precision in which God will accomplishes His judgement. It is described as a burning pitch, and day that will not be quenched, whose smoke goes up forever. Jesus spoke in these same terms in Mark 9:48 the re is not quenched - 2 Peter 3:11-13 said on the coming of the day of God, of which the heavens will be set on re and dissolvedAs low as the judgement of Isaiah 34 falls is the height of the glory in which Isaiah 35 soars. The heart of Isaiah 35 is found in verses 1 that calls Gods people to rejoice! in His salvation. From there God tells us the marks of salvation:Beauty, joy, majesty, glory, renewed hands and knees, singing, shouting, and a strength that will come and a fear that will retreat. Praise God!Isaiah then employs a powerful metaphor: The highway of holiness, to describe the pathway towards the saving work of God. Did you know there is a highway of holiness in the bible called the Romans Road? It is a clear path in the Book of Romans where we can walk people to the foot of the cross, and Christ. It is a pathway that God has given us in the book of the Lord - Read it and Share it!Weekly Bible Reading Isaiah34 and 35 Isaiah 33:2, 10, 24Ecclesiastes 3:17Ezekiel 33:11Isaiah 34:1-12 The Way of DisbeliefGenesis 1:1-4 Mark 9:48, 2 Peter 3:11-13Numbers 20:14-21Genesis 25:21-26, 27:411 Samuel 14:47, 2 Samuel 8:14Isaiah 34:16, John 7:38Isaiah 35:1-10 The Way of SalvationHebrews 12:12, Romans 15:13Luke 7:18-23The Romans RoadMatthew 8:25, 1 Corinthians 1:18 Isaiah 35:10, Luke 15:57A new addition to the weekly newsletter is a copy of the scripture outline from Sundays sermon. It is my hope that this helps you in reection on the work that God did through his Word. Hebrews 12:2 - The Bible says that we are in desperate need of not only help, but also hope and that it can only be found in Jesus Christ. This is why we are commanded to look to Jesus, who is the author and perfecter of our faith. What an amazing thought when you consider Ephesians 2:10 which tells us that we are Gods workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Jesus doesnt make junk. Did you hear that? You are more valuable than you know because God made you. Each day I try to pull my kids aside and tell them that they are wonderfully and beautifully made - Why? Because God doesnt make junk. YOU are wonderfully and beautifully made.
