Adam spoke of the many scams and frauds that people are using to gain access to others money and information. He urges every-one to always check their state-

ments and if there is something wrong, call them as soon as pos-sible. There is a certain window when they can get your money back. Craig’s List can be fradu-lent and money grams are being forged. Online banking offers some protection and securities. There are about 10 scams go-ing on right now. Be careful with phone calls. Diane reiterated Ad-am’s statements and she spoke of the Credit Union’s project, Ending Hunger In Maine. They have several fundraising acitvi-ties through out the year and all that money goes to support food banks. It was a very informative

CHRISTMAS SHOW REHEARSAL - The Levi Stewart Community Theater will present their annual Christmas Show for 2014, “Virgil’s Christmas Catch” by Eddie McPherson, on Friday and Saturday, De-cember 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. at the historic Stewart Library Building in Corinna. The play’s description is “Virgil Sludge is from the country. He’s working a temporary job for extra Christmas money as a custodian at a leading ad agency in the city. He and his best friend Ellard play around with one of their own adver-tising ideas while taking a break in an executive’s offi ce. By mistake, the storyboard with a catchphrase about fi shing lures is taken to the printers and published as the new campaign slogan. Sounds bad, but it might be good. This is a great fi sh-out-of-water, Christmas story with lots of hilarious confusion between the country folks and the city folks.” Admission will be $6 per person with a family rate of $20 for four or more from the same household.

Glow Run/Walk results

DOVER-FOXCROFT - The Foxcroft Academy Key Club will host the 3rd Annual Reindeer 5K Run and Walk on Sunday, December 7. The event will begin outside the Foxcroft Academy Student Center at 1 p.m., with registration opening at noon. Donations will be ac-cepted, and all proceeds will be used by local Key Clubs for charitable holiday endeavors, including the purchase of Christmas gifts for im-poverished families.

More than 60 runners and walkers participated in last year’s race and helped raise $5700 for the Hanson family, who had recently lost their home to a fi re.

“...to improve their abilities”To the Editor:For many years the Tri-County Technical Center in Dexter has been competing in Skills, a program de-

signed to improve student’s abilities and confi dence while in competition with other students throughout the united States. The results have been jobs even before graduation.

They compete with each other and the ones who win go to Bangor. The ones who win there go on to Kansas to compete nationally. Our students have always done very well in all competitions, winning many metals in both state and national meets including gold, silver, and bronze and making some of them in the top ten in the country. This is due to the quality of the students and the instructors. If you could have the time to talk to both students and teachers, you could see that the relationship is more than just student and teacher.

This year due to budget constraints they are looking at not being able to compete. If each of us could contribute to their future I think it would be a confi dence builder in all of them. I think a gift sent to the Tri-County Technical Center would show our support to the program.

LT. ALAN M. GRINNELLDEXTER - Lt. Alan Michael Grinnell, 61, Detective Lt. of the Dexter Police De-

partment, was gently placed in the hands of his Heavenly Father on Monday night, November 17th of natural causes. Born in Camden on June 9, 1953, he was the son of Arthur E. and Virginia (Chapman) Grinnell. A 1971 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School, he married Elizabeth McClellan on October 21, 1971, whom he remained married to until his passing. Grinnell had been a well-respected mem-ber of the Dexter Police Department since June 1990, when he signed on as a patrol offi cer. Alan could be found each Sunday leading the musical praise team at his church and he found much happiness through his faith in God. Alan will be so very missed by his family, church, police department and community. He will be re-membered as a great man, friend, and police offi cer. Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Grinnell; four children, Spencer Grinnell and his wife, Jennifer; Christina Grinnell; Caitlin Grinnell-Coro and her husband Wayne and Carly Grinnell; He is survived by a sister, Gloria Grenell of Rockland. A brother, Art Grinnell and his wife, Kim of Lincolnville and a sister, Donna Scully and her husband, Kevin of Waldoboro. He is

also survived by his grandchildren who loved him dearly: Spencer Alan, Michaela, Jared, Eli-jah, Alexandria, Kelsey, Kolten, Jessie, Zachary, and Amara. He was predeceased by his parents and twin sisters. In keeping with his wishes, interment will be private and held at the con-venience of the family in Camden. ROGER E. FARRARDEXTER – Roger E. Farrar, 86, died unexpectedly November 21, 2014 at a Dover-

Foxcroft hospital. He was born May 20, 1928 in Dexter a son of Harold and Ruth (Call) Farrar. He was educated in Dexter schools. Throughout his life he was always a hard worker. He worked on his father’s dairy farm as a child, and later owned and operated his own pulp trucks. He drilled artisian wells, worked as a carpenter and later became a foreman for a large construction fi rm primarily building senior citizen’s housing. After retirement he also built several camps to sell. He also re-stored antique cars, mainly Model T’s, and enjoyed going on a number of national Model T tours. Roger enjoyed fi shing and camping trips in the summer. He also enjoyed ice fi shing on Center Pond in front of the camp he built. He also enjoyed hunting and shot a large buck only a couple of weeks ago. He collected sap in the spring and did gardening in the summer. He liked to collect antiques, old coins, and feed the humming birds. Roger is survived by 2 sisters, Helen Edgerly of Dexter and Ethelyn Langley of Presque Isle and Florida. He will also be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was a loving and caring uncle and was a “fa-ther fi gure” to several family members. Along with his gentle demeanor, he was a man of few words but people respected his wisdom. Roger was predeceased by 2 brothers, Raymond and Galen Farrar. A celebration of Roger’s life was held at 1 P.M. Wednesday at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter. In lieu of fl owers, dona-tions may be made in his memory to the Dexter Historical Society, P. O. Results Physical Therapy welcomes new Wellness Director

DEXTER - A fi rst meeting of the Dexter Business Group was held recently at the Millworks building. The group was started to address business concerns and practices. They discussed possible ways to im-prove and possibly bring new business to town and ways to promote already existing assets, such as the lake, campground, ATV trails, airport and the golf course.

The second part of their discussion was about workmen’s comp, hiring, fi ring and personnel manuals.Anyone who has an interest in joining this group can attend the next meeting on December 10 at 6:30

NEWPORT/GARDINER - Emery’s Meat Market is currently in the process of setting up a new location in Gardiner at 53 Bridge Street. In the new location they will have the ability to cut bone-in products as well as bring many new local products.

The Monmouth Store, which will be closing November 26 at 4 p.m., and the Augusta Store, closing De-cember 31, will both be moving to the Gardiner location which will reopen on January 2 at 9 a.m.

There will be no changes to the Newport store.The Gardiner Store will be Monday - Friday 9 to 6, Saturday & Sunday 9 to 4. Grand Opening Specials

Money for the Kiwanis Com-munity Christmas Campaign was collected with a total of $250. The club also budgets for $50 so a total of $300 will be used to buy items for children for Christmas. Volunteers will help Barb shop.

Vicki mentioned the volunteer sheets need to be totaled and handed in for reporting purposes. A new sheet will be available at the fi rst January meeting. Vicki also handed out information on International Outreach. Mem-bers will study that and decide later which ones they would like to participate in. Care Chairman Gloria Leveillee issued a chal-lenge to all clubs.

State Public Issues Chairman, Minnie McCormick reported on SHOE BOXES FOR SPOUSES for militiary personel. Boxes of cosmetic products, cards, gums. books, etc will be sent to an APEX address and wil be distributed as needed. They can be for male or female. Roxy reported that she clips coupons, gets them to Sangerville Grange who then send them off to be used by mili-tary spouses.

EDITOR’S NOTE: It would be fairly easy to visit two of the three following events on Decem-ber 6; while stopping at local restaurants for meals. Actually, it would not be that diffi cult to make a day of it and visit all three that Saturday.

MILO - Milo’s annual celebration, Milo’s Hometown Holidays, will happen on Saturday, December 6. Before Santa arrives in Milo the Home Lighting and Business Lighting Contests will have already

been held. Application forms and rules for both contests will be available in the Milo Town Hall Lobby. Applications for the Home and Business Lighting Contests will be due back at the town offi ce by Saturday, November 29. Judging will take place the evenings of Monday, December 1 through Friday, December 5, be sure your Christmas display is lit for the judging. There is no charge to participate in the lighting con-tests. Contest winners will be announced at the celebration with Santa after 5:30 p.m. on the 6.

The fun on Saturday starts early at PVHS Cafeteria, where from 8 to 10:00 a.m., there will be Break-fast with Santa for $4. Park Street UMC will hold a Christmas Fair between 9 a.m. and noon. A beef stew luncheon will be available at the fair between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. which includes beef stew, rolls, crackers, pie, pickles and beverages. Items on sale at the Christmas Fair include Homemade Food, Cookie Walk, Candy/Fudge, homemade crafts, a Men’s Craft Gift table, Cards & RADA utensils, and a Nearly New Items table.

Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Country Blessings’ Holiday Open House at 24 West Main Street will feature live music, refreshments, door prizes, and many items on sale to brighten your holidays. From 4 to 6 p.m. there will be fun in the Milo Town Hall dining room for children and their families making Christmas crafts and having snacks.

Meanwhile Milo’s Hometown Holidays will welcome Santa to town with his very own parade which starts at 5 p.m. at American Legion Post 41. Riders on Santa’s fl oat need to dress for the cold, with special attention to warm footwear. After the parade a lucky child will light the Milo Fire Department’s Com-munity Christmas tree. There will be caroling at the tree after the lighting. By 5:30 p.m. Santa should be settled in his chair in the town hall lobby to begin greeting children and hearing their Christmas wishes. Meanwhile others can enjoy the hayride courtesy of Trask Insurance which arrives and departs from Milo Town Hall, continue with a craft activity, or have a snack. Milo’s Hometown Holidays door prizes are: a Gift Basket donated by Bethany Mageau, of Hospitality Hair & Nails and Celeste Creighton, of Skin Glows by Celeste AND Harmon’s Heating Oil, 31 Main Street, Milo has donated 100 gallons of #2 heating oil delivered within our normal delivery area (One entry per person for door prizes.) The winners of the Home Lighting and Business Lighting Contests will be announced and door prizes awarded before Santa leaves. Weather permitting, at 7 p.m. there will be a bonfi re and ice skating at Harris Field on Elm Street.

PITTSFIELD - The Sebasticook Valley Health (SVH) Auxiliary is featuring fi ve homes and a special-ly decorated space in Pittsfi eld and Hartland during its third annual Christmas Home Tours, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For $15, booklet holders can visit any of the participating locations. Members of the SVH Auxiliary are selling tour booklets that include a map and directions to each home, as well as other interesting infor-mation about the location and how these places are decorated for the holidays. Throughout the event, refreshments will be provided at the Pittsfi eld Public Library, which will be decorated for the holidays by area community organizations.

To purchase a tour booklet or for more information, please contact any member of the SVH Auxiliary or the Auxiliary Liaison, Sandi Delano at 487-4000. Booklets can also be purchased at the main lobby of the hospital.

The public will be able to cast their votes for the most creative trees by placing a $1 donation in a container in front of each tree. All donations will go to the Kris Kringle’s Market fund to pur-chase winter clothing for local children in need.

The Kris Kringle’s Market Committee will be selling 50/50 raffl e tickets. Door prizes will be awarded hourly. Santa arrives at 1 p.m. to listen to the wishes of each youngster and those young at heart. DEXTER — The American Red Cross asks eligible donors to give something that means something this holiday season – a lifesaving blood donation.

Blood donations often decline this time of year when donors get busy with holiday festivities and travel. Severe winter weather and seasonal illnesses, like the fl u, can also have a serious impact on blood donations, but the need for blood remains steady. On average, the Red Cross must collect 15,000 blood products every day for patients across the country.
