Thinking about launching a Startup?
Not every Startup Idea should be
acted on, and not everyone is built
to be an Entrepreneur.
While some of the following points can be
argued or may be up for interpretation, they
should be used as general guidelines before
you waste a lot of time and money.
It could be age or life experiences, but if you don’t have a history of leadership, innovation, or problem-solving, you’ll want to avoid that
startup launch for a bit.
You don’t have the experience.
Startups are businesses. You should know the basics of how to run a business in order to
run a startup properly.
You know nothing about business.
It may be tough to handle, but you just may not have the acumen or general knowledge
to run a company.
You’re not smart enough.
Complete control of your destiny is surprisingly tough to handle. Startups take
real drive and commitment, regardless of the safeguards in place.
You have a need for structure.
A strong network and a co-founder are the keys to success for a new venture. Start
building and finding yours or take a step back.
You don’t have a supporting cast.
Startups take guts, and are full of daily ups and downs, and its more than just
your life on the line.
You’re easily frightened.
Everyone thinks they’re determined, but have you ever committed yourself to
building anything of value from start to finish?
You don’t have determination.
No one jumps into a billion-dollar acquisition. A startup launch means years of lean operations, low pay, and dependence on revenue or committed investors.
You want money.
Today’s startup society likes to preach and encourage “failure”, but that’s not an absolute answer. Not
everyone is built to be an Entrepreneur.
Still it’s tough to tell an aspiring entrepreneur “no”,
so tread lightly when you’re thinking about
that startup launch!
