Dear Parents,

Wow, what a week! You should be very proud of your

Kindergartener. The first few days (and weeks!) are tiring for these

guys but they pulled through. I am so excited about this special

group of kids and feel so fortunate to be their teacher. Each of

them is so unique and bright- I cant wait to see all they

accomplish throughout the year.

I look forward to seeing you all again on Back to School

Night (Tuesday August 21st).

Thank you for sharing your Kindergartner with me! As always,

if there is anything I can do to make your childs school

experience better, please let me know. I believe in working as a

team with parents because you are their most important teachers.

Calendar Time: We learned the Days of the Week song,

Good morning song, how to read the date, counting the

days of school (ice cream scoops, number line, place

value with straws), and about the weather.

Classroom Rules:We use the 5 I Care Rules- we say them

each morning and we have actions to go with them. We

have also talked a lot about manners and how important

they are! (ask your child about Monster Manners)Reading: Our first day was the Kissing Hand- we have

ready other back to school books, along with bear stories.

Friday was Pete the Cat: Rocking in my School Shoes. Pete

sent us on a scavenger hunt to tour the school! The kids

had a blast with this.

Math: We graphed our transportation (how we get home)

and will continue by recording this data next week! We

have also worked on counting.
