Starting with Mongolia, Mina is systematically travelling the globe but it is great to see the magnetic influence of Australia and the power of a call for help from Naracoorte. Alongside her sport and travel Mina trained as a Physiotherapist and a Naracoorte practice observed her skills on a short visit to the South-east. Subsequently travel was interrupted by her accepting a call from Naracoorte to return and practice physiotherapy. Mina joined the Rotary Club of Naracoorte, following her Rotaract experiences back home, and she was a leader in the establishment of its Satellite breakfast Club for young professionals. Our club was advised of Mina’s move to Adelaide with her partner Damian, to continue her work as a physiotherapist. It’s great that she is continuing her Rotary involvement with us; Naracoorte’s loss, Magill Sunrise’s gain. Her story had a final twist, with Mina mentioning that her physio practice now includes visceral manipulation. This arises from an increased understanding of human anatomy/physiology and it opens up new pathways for the diagnosis and treatment for many patients experiencing pain that previously could not be explained. From a bakery in Cam Gloucestershire UK to Magill Sunrise was the story Mina Ward presented to members

on Tuesday. Although still under thirty, she has already packed in more than a lifetime of experiences on the

sporting and travel fronts. Given her rowing successes, she did not mention whether or not she declined a call to join the crew of

oarsmen and women to row the Queen’s Jubilee barge. Nevertheless she is off to London shortly for the

Olympics to cheer on the Aussies’ and the Brits. On her return to Aus she will follow the Lions Tour of

Australia (Rugby) rather than simply going to see the big cats at Monarto. The latest sport to capture Mina’s

attention is Lacrosse and we expect her to turn to Aussie Rules after she comes to grips with it.

Starting with Mongolia, Mina is systematically travelling the globe but it is great to see the magnetic

influence of Australia and the power of a call for help from Naracoorte. Alongside her sport and travel Mina

trained as a Physiotherapist and a Naracoorte practice observed her skills on a short visit to the South-east.

Subsequently travel was interrupted by her accepting a call from Naracoorte to return and practice

physiotherapy. Mina joined the Rotary Club of Naracoorte, following her Rotaract experiences back home, and she was a

leader in the establishment of its Satellite breakfast Club for young professionals.

Our club was advised of Mina’s move to Adelaide with her partner Damian, to continue her work as a

physiotherapist. It’s great that she is continuing her Rotary involvement with us; Naracoorte’s loss, Magill

Sunrise’s gain. Her story had a final twist, with Mina mentioning that her physio practice now includes

visceral manipulation. This arises from an increased understanding of human anatomy/physiology and it

opens up new pathways for the diagnosis and treatment for many patients experiencing pain that previously

could not be explained. Editor’s Note: An associated treatment known as Ampuku can be seen on

ROXBY DISTRICT

CHANGE OVER AND BIRTHDAY

Mark and Mari Thompson represented Magill Sunrise at Roxby District’s Change Over Dinner last Saturday night. Former Magill Sunrise member, Craig Sumsion was inducted as President for 2012- 2013. Change Over time is coincidental with the the Roxby District’s birthday. Craig is helping

disect their birthday cake with outgoing President Leigh. A bleery eyed Craig then fired up the BBQ

for bacon and eggs for Sunday morning breakfast, again assisted by a weary looking Leigh.

FORMER CLUB MEMBER

SANDY SUMSION

Craig’s wife, Sandy, also a former member of our club, went easy on her hubby as she is prone to

take the mickey out of Club President’s when given the opportunity, as evidenced at her own

induction with Mark T.

MARK THIS DATE DOWN IN YOUR DIARIES

Please start thinking about some cunning way in which you can extract prizes for this year’s quiz

from someone that you do business with.

All commercial donors will be listed and distributed throughout the venue.

Noel Speck has agreed to MC again this year, despite his move to Murray Bridge.

Maybe you can also be table captain for a table of 10.

The Board needs to confirm who the beneficiaries will be for this year, so wait until you get this

information; nominating a beneficiary makes it easier for you to go begging for prizes and making

up a table of 10.

What an amazing week. More than half of our tippers got EVERY GAME CORRECT. Clearly half of the competition have got it all worked out!!! Unfortunately the other half either

(a) have no idea about what’s going on or

(b) are hopelessly dedicated Port supporters.

And possibly there are a few others who wish there was a prize for (almost) tipping upsets.

Now back to the important business:

1) If you tipped 6 correct, I hope you claimed your free Hungary Jacks Whopper voucher; and

2) Sharpen your focus for this week-it’s going to be a tight finish to the 3 Round mini-competition.

Just to remind you – there are prizes for the tippers who finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd from this 3-week

mini-comp – and to make it interesting, there are a number of games this week that could go either way.

I’ll refrain from giving any advice about who to tip since my position on the ladder suggests such

advice wouldn’t be helpful.

So be bold, be careful and be lucky.

Editor’s Note: Hey Lindsay, I’ve tried being boldly careful before, but I ran out of luck. Rotary Club of Magill Sunrise Page | 6

Shirley, for picking up two jokers out of the card pack.

John K, for his TV appearance.

Wayne, for turning into the car park without indicating.

Julie, for meeting up with all her interstate siblings for the first time in 20 years and creating

an earthquake.

Brenton, for being late.

Lindsay, for being late.

All the men for sitting at their table with Shirley and Sue.

All the women, for sitting at their table with John C and John K.

Mena, for suggesting a 42 km marathon is fun and we should all do one.

Mark T, for being late with the last Bulletin.

Total Fines were $43.50

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise

and in particular to encourage and foster

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful

occupations; and the dignifying by every Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve society.

The application of the ideal service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of

business and professional people united in the ideal of service.

The Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do:

Is it the truth?

Is it Fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

For good food, good fellowship

And the opportunity to serve through Rotary …we give thanks.
