Linear inequality--

Looks like Linear equation BUT has inequality!

In the past you graphed them on a number lineNOW-

Becasue you have an x and a y They are graphed on coordinate planes!They are now lines that are considered boundry lines.

WHY?Becasue now you also have to shade the graph!

How do you graph an inequality?

1. Make sure that inequality is in slope intercept form(helps to pretend you have an = sign)

2. Graph the line BUT note

NOW- you have to look at the inequality sign again- dashed line- solid line

3. Lastly shade the graph.- shade below line- shade above line

1. Graphing EACH line on the same plane. (must be in slope intercept form first!) (pretend that you are graphing lines)

2. Note the new difference:-- dashed line-- solid line

3. Shade for each inequality:-- shade below line--shade above line

4. Darken in the part where shading overlapsTHIS shade part is your "answer"
